Batman: The Enemy Within is the sequel to Batman - The Telltale Series. The game follows Bruce Wayne's 3rd year and next adventure as the Dark Knight following the Lady Arkham conflict from last year. When Riddler returns to best Batman with his intellect sends Bruce into a deeper conspiracy.

Gameplay wise it's not really different from the previous Telltale games, with action being QTE based and the TT trademark dialogue options, but this game introduces new QTEs that freshens up the otherwise stale action sequences. There's also these special blow options you get during a fight, Like if you want to Uppercut or Tripwire an enemy. A feature that doesn't come back from the first game unfortunately is setting up plans of attack.

While the first game introduces new original ideas with existing characters (Like Vicki Vale actually being Victoria Arkham, and later Lady Arkham, Oswald Cobblepot being Bruce's childhood friend) the sequel on the other hand begins to introduce characters known throughout Batman's comic history like Mr Freeze, Harley Quinn, Bane, and John Doe aka The Joker. They still do their own Telltale twist on things to different itself from other iterations like Harley being more confident in herself and taking up the leader role of the Pact, and with the season serving as the origin for Joker depending on your choices.

One of the biggest praises I can give this game is the fact for the first time in a while In Telltale's history since The Walking Dead (2012) is that your choices matter a whole lot, and it's taken me by surprise when you remember how people bash Telltales illusion of choice. Case in point, during a previous episode, John and Bruce were in a car waiting for Harley to return when John began to hot wire the car, albeit having a hard time doing so. My Bruce said "You know, I could just buy you a car", then during episode four during another scene with John after leaving the Funhouse, he brings up after seeing our car, he'll take us up on that offer. An offer that was *2 episodes ago*. Not only that, but relationships with other characters can be SUPER different depending on our choices. It genuinely feels like a much needed improvement from TT's earlier works in the choice department, it's just a shame Telltale started to actually have improvements like this riiiiight as they were sinking.

In many many aspects, Batman: The Enemy Within is genuinely one of the best Telltale games ever made right up there with The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Season 1. With a gripping story and characters. I just wish we could've gotten more out of this series, though maybe there's hope for a future installment. 9/10.
