My friend, do you like Diesel punk? What about 2d, action packed, tense, ship to ship combat? Does the idea of using an array of sensors and intel to seek out (or avoid) incoming missiles, aircraft, or strike groups composed of multiple ships the size of your flagship interest you? Do you wish to inflict an ABSURD AMOUNT of warcrimes via NUCLEAR BOMBARDMENT from a strike group burning enough LIQUID METHANE to effectively counteract the cooling effect of a nuclear winter on a global scale? Then my friend, this game is for you.

I paid full price for this game and I regret nothing. The first couple of playthroughs were kinda rocky, me largely ignoring recruiting other tarkhans to join my cause, and not having the damnest clue about how sensors work, as well as the importance of using Aircraft Carriers and Missile Carriers to my advantage. (For the love of god keep that active radar off and only send out individual pings if you need too) However once I got the basics of combat and sensors down the game got a lot easier, and much more fun.

This game can be very unforgiving, but at the same time rewarding. Especially as more events unfold later into the story, where you as the Tarkhan of the fleet have to make decisions for the betterment of your fleet. These decisions can also affect how the people of Gerat (the country you're attempting to liberate) see you. Whether you take on the image of a prophet from god sent to punish the rebels for heresy, or the image of a hero just trying to unite Gerat to end the war once and for all is up to you.

The setting and immersion in this game are another feature I quite like. First the setting, the setting is in an alternate timeline where several large kingdoms rule the world and conduct warfare largely through the use of massive airships powered by burning liquid methane. The game kinda gives off a diesel punk Dune vibe and for some reason I just absolutely love it. The immersion is great too, something about looking at the map on the bridge and trying to plot your next course of action, all while listening to the hum of the engines as you fly between cities is amazing. Not to mention the tension and panic you feel as one of the crew runs down the hallway to yell "Thermal signature detected" or hearing "radar emission detected".

All in all, its just an amazing mixture of sound design, setting, and game mechanics that put this game above many others I have played.

Bottom line: Its unique, its fun, and it offers a nice challenge while offering some control of the challenge with three difficulty modes. While it lacks in the tutorial department for things like using long range missiles, aircraft, and advanced sensor tactics, its still an amazing game. I rate it a 9.5/10, only docking it for the lack of tutorials. Would recommend to anyone who thinks this game looks remotely interesting.
