Although stated in almost every single negative review, the DLC released for Hearts of Iron 4 does make the game significantly better than the base version, however, as stated earlier, this can be fixed easily using several mods that I would consider as must needs especially if you don't want to spend that much money. The learning curve is quite steep in this game as well, if you're playing as a bigger country there's a lot of multitasking that needs to be done and micromanaging as well; I could not recommend this game to people who can't keep track of all the little things.

As someone who personally loves the topic of History, Hearts of Iron 4 executes the progression of World War II very nicely and it can be used to accurately display many events that occurred during this time period. I loved looking through all of the nation's focus trees and looking at what each country had to deal with during this time and how they dealt with opposing forces such as German invasions or outside influences by other countries. The game requires heavy level of knowledge and multitasking ability, although demanding at the beginning, this game gets extremely fun once you've played it a few times and gotten the hang of how things work. The achievements provide a sense of challenge and progression to show how you have harnessed your abilities to create unique scenarios.
