I enjoy this game for the combat, the reason being this game has the potential to be on the more difficult side. As a result many people despite the games age still engage with the community to discuss and borrow/ use build ideas, or discuss engage with some of the story content. Problem with this is there is a dev / multiple devs who seem to be catering to some anti woke sentiment on the forums which is not a new thing for steam, but perhaps a suprise that its being tolerated in a pathfinder community in particular. They have a user who stalks the forums who replies to almost everything named "Razer" iirc, that has multiple posts that berate women while trying to pretend he's arguing from an intellectual standpoint. The Devs will lock posts as he goes on long rants, but never ban him. When I stated we shouldn't tolerate bigots on the forums I got a temp ban, while long rants by said user about things like toxic masculinity not existing at all and any man who doesn't agree with him has zero self respect or brainwashed.

I will copy and paste parts of his protected lunatic rants for proof.

This is his reply to someone asking in the forums about a spellbook game mechanic saying they didn't want to miss out on something by making a mistake iirc. Instead of answering, berating over nothing. Protected.

"Why does every kid and their kindergarten conplain about fomo nowadays. Is this a new hype or something to utilize a psychological condition to complain about your video game habits? I dont think any of em actually knows what fomo actually means. Fomo is related to a social inreraction where the person has not done or seen something and therefore cannot participate in social circles on the topic. It has litterally nothing to do with doing something in a video game. Especially not merged spellbooks. Dear lord..."

There's more. hopefully they fix this issue so there can be some semblance of peace for all kinds of people for what's supposed to be an inclusive piece of media.

Imagine being a dev guarding the forums and thinking these kinds of lies are good for your game. That the game just "allows white male hatred" with zero reference to any in-game content.

I wanted to give this game a good review because it had potential, but I'm going to list issues that aren't just issues, but trends that have never gone away after years with this company.

insanely buggy launch, extremely and constantly delayed DLC, massive amounts of nerfs, and then new class introductions that are more broken than the things they nerf making you wonder why they even bothered.

This game used to be a challenge of sorts (nothing compared to their previous games kingmaker and wrath of the righteous) on the unfair and iron man modes but listening to every complaint has had them take the few fights that couldn't be beat in a turn, and making it now pop after you're much higher level - when the game currently already overlevels you by not addressing dlc exp for the base game. I used to enjoy streamers trying the grim darkness challenge, but they opted to move the only things that could end such a run deeper into the story to remove the challenge of it.

I used to love this game and company. After this last patch, and another at least 4 month delay it seems on the next set of content that was supposed to release already iirc - I'm over them.

Good writers so we can buy their games on super sale many years after release for it to be worth it and not disappointed over and over again through its initial life cycle.

Got out of the tutorial zone and after seeing the performance drop immediately wanted to refund. Said to myself I'll give it a wait for some kind of patch since I loved Greedfall, which funny enough had its own similar issues. After reading their recent "FAQ", I laughed, and regret not refunding immediately. Tried to refund since, but though I was below the 2 hr mark - I was past the two week threshold and they refused. Don't buy this game. It's obvious they aren't going to put in the work to fix / optimize it.
