I waited until reaching the capital before making a review as the general consensus was that it was there where your performance is likely to drop through the floor.

And honestly, everyone's correct on that point. It runs like garbage in that spot (and other spots too), and it's a place you're gonna be spending a decent chunk of time in.

So it shows just how much of a special game DD2 is that such dreadful performance in a main area doesn't at all diminish my enjoyment and love for this game. Lesser games I would have dropped, but DD2 has been an agonising 12 year wait for players such as myself who actually pre-ordered the original way back when, complete with the same rift crystal MTX. The first game also had weapons and such locked on-disc, which is insanity thinking back but I never thought too much of it at the time honestly.

DD2 evokes the feeling of pre Dark Arisen days, no unlimited ferrystone means you're gonna be hoofing it to all corners of the map, multiple times. This game unashamedly appeals to those of us who loved the first game warts and all, and doesn't do a whole lot to try sweeten the deal for cautious new players, for better and worse at times.

Other professional and amateur review outlets have already given in depth reviews and breakdowns of the minutia of this game so it doesn't bear repeating here and making this post overly long and relatively uninteresting, so the short of it is this:

Dragon's Dogma has always had it's own way of doing certain things, some choices are sublime, and others utterly baffling. But it all comes together to create a complete package that few others games can come close to matching the experience of. DD2 is DD:DA with a new coat of paint and a few new features, and that's all it needed to be for me.

That and the ability to celebrate your victories and high-fiving with your pawns is reason enough for me to recommend this game to be honest. Everyone hire my dummy thicc raccoon girl Yuri - J5HU86APM0HL

If you have even a vague, passing interest in Harry Potter you owe it to yourself to get this game. The level of detail, love, and care put into the world is absolutely staggering. Even having only put a handful of hours in to it so far I can tell that this will be making my end year list just like how I knew Elden Ring was the same after only a short spell (pun intended) when it launched February 2022.

The castle is insanely detailed, Hogsmeade looks beautiful, the assets are numerous and varied. Combat works well and is surprisingly challenging on the hardest difficulty. The characters are interesting and very well voice acted with the female player character I've found to be especially of note personally.

In short, there isn't anything I can say that hasn't already been said, few games are worth full price at launch but this is absolutely one of them. if you're even moderately interested, check out some spoiler free footage on YouTube (such as ACG's review) and grab this one as soon as you're able, you're not likely to regret it. I hope the already huge success of this game lets Avalanche work on more Wizarding World content, whether it be DLC or a sequel, to say they've proved themselves capable would be a colossal understatement.

As a side note: stunning boycott by the way guys, better luck next time yeah? Maybe don't bully/harass random people or tell absolutely ridiculous lies when the next game drops and it might endear more people to your "cause".
