ARRRGHHHH!
That is my primary reaction while playing Dirty Bomb.
Dirty Bomb can be an extremely fun game. It has a lot going for it. The objective based modes are unique and a good load of fun, the maps are huge multi-part affairs with various points of engagement and every character in the roster has a unique feel and personality. This game is also extremely fast paced and employs a simple parkour and momentum based movement system; In Dirty Bomb motility is key, almost as much as your aiming skills. This makes it a refeshing change of pace from most other online FPS out there with the added benefit of this being completely free-to-play.
However, this game is plagued by some crippling problems:

1. LACK OF POLISH - As you would expect from most free-to-play games, Dirty Bomb suffers from a lack of polish. The graphics are average, there are performance issues, especially in the menus and I have had trouble joining games on occasion.

2. POOR NETCODE - It is extremely common to get shot around corners you think you have crossed or get shot through solid objects/walls (Dirty Bomb does not have wall or cover penetration akin to Battlefield, so this should not be happening).

3. BAD BALANCING - The game has poor balancing and a huge portion of games just end up being one sided slaughter fests.

3. POOR UPDATES AND LACK OF NEW MAPS - I will acceed that Dirty Bomb's maps are huge multi-layered affairs and must take time and effort to create, however the devs have barely released any new maps in a long while now. Meanwhile, they have continued to crank out new purchaseable characters like clockwork. Also, Dirty Bomb remains in beta for a year now, with a fully functioning in-game store. These occurences have led me to lose trust in the devs.

4. HACKERS - Oh god. This is what completely kills this game for me. Dirty bomb is rife with hackers of various degrees. aimbotters and wallhackers are commonplace, and any game with these hackers become exercises in frustration. The game's anti-cheat system is a joke and according to forums, no action is taken against these cheaters even if you report them.

As you can see, I have put quite a few hours into this game, however I cannot say I enjoyed them all. This game suffers from some serious problems that the devs do not seem to be interested in solving, and with a plethora of hero/character and objective based shooters coming out this year, i'm going to jump ship without a second thought as and when they release.

P.S. - I have spent some money on this game (15 dollars), but with 3 free characters to begin with along with the weekly rotation, free-to-play players should not suffer any obvious disadvantages. In the game's defense, I felt that it's microtransaction model is mostly fair.

TL;DR - The game has some unique ideas and can be fun on occasion, however it is let down by lack of polish, poor netcode, balancing issues, bugs and is rife with hackers. Look elsewhere and spare yourself the frustration.
