If you're someone who likes to waste a lot of time doing the same copy and pasted content endlessly, and basically just obsess over seeing 100% completion... you might enjoy this game. Possibly.

It's basically yet another vapid Bethesda open world game. Where you have a very short story with a handful of places to visit... and massive amounts of nothing to waste time in. Tons of planets... all barren and containing the same 3-5 identical outposts repeated across them with the same enemies and the same loot.

There's some "faction" stuff which is shallow and has no real impact.

There's space combat, which is very simplistic and if you've loaded up your ship with the best gear you can buy (which is easy as money grows on trees), then it's a joke. Everyone will end up with the same top tier gear on their ship, and mostly it's just a matter of picking which particular layout you want. You can customize the hell out of your ship... though other than looks, it does nothing. It's another "this item is best, no point in using anything else" type of system.

Ground combat is even simpler than Mass Effect 3. Fallout 4 (which was a joke with zero character skills as long as you had FPS skills as a player) has a deeper combat system. Grab a weapon, dodge bullets like a god, kill everything.

Oh, you can stealth and such too... if you want to max out the skills for it. But there's never any real point as there's never much of a threat from enemies. The only things that CAN pose a threat is some of the wildlife if you get a big spawn of critters. But as you can literally fly out of reach and shoot them... again... meh.

The game also has a wonderfully horrific level scaling system which makes levelling up pointless as enemies simply become bullet sponges to match your increase in damage, meaning stuff takes just as long to kill 50 hours in as they did 5 minutes in.

As far as the story goes... it's... there. Nothing special. Honestly feels rather silly much of the time.

The characters are decent, most of the time. They have some great moments and lines. But once you've done those, they're just target dummies that walk into enemy fire.

You can also generate "random NPC's" to join your crew. Which basically means there's preset random NPC's who come with a skill that you can choose to use instead of the much more useful (and better voiced) companions.

If you're looking for a great open world space adventure, get No Man's Sky, it's VASTLY superior to Starfield.
If you're looking for a great Bethesda game, grab Skyrim or Fallout 4, they're VASTLY superior to Starfield.

Oh, don't forget that this game has microtransactions too. Because of course it does.
