Short Version: Good game, but not recommended.

Graphic wise, gameplay wise, music wise, there's absolutely nothing to complain about which is great.

The good thing about this game is that it's so addictive it will time warp you straight to midnight without you noticing.

However, I prefer to play games solo, and I play many multiplayer games solo such as Rust, GTA 5 online.
I know exactly how a solo will struggle in games like these.
Knowing that, I wouldn't say that this game is impossible to play solo but loot transferring is tedious af, even more so compared to the games I mentioned. Yes there's a match making system but from my experience I mostly would only find kids that sounded like they are 10, I mean you have to fight sea monsters, other players, do puzzles, and sail a ship that requires good team coordination or all at the same time, maybe it's just me but I find baby sitting in games really annoying, SPECIALLY this one.

There's also another major problem about this game, which is the 4 player limit in a team and no way to select/create your own server, meaning if you have more than 3 friends, you're screwed, because only 4 of you can play together while the others will just have to watch. You cannot make 2 groups and hope to join the same session because the game doesn't allow you to do so.

If you have anger issues, you're gonna break things playing this game, because at some point, you will spend hours to get a ship full of loot just to get sunk by some other players(and yes, people sink ships to steal your stuff, or for fun), I'm here to remind you that you ARE buying a PIRATE GAME, there are PIRATES.

It is also worth mentioning that if you do not wish to use windows 10, forget about this game, Sea of Thieves ONLY runs on windows 10.
