First of all: Its worse in every Aspect compared to Spellforce 2.
Your Main hub (Mulandir) feels, like you have Zero control over it. in SF2 you've been gifted an Island, with actual Quests and Progression. Mulandir is just... there.
3 Spells for your main Hero is not enough. yes, you can switch between a couple of presets live during the game but who does that? i don't want to overthink or analyse every aspect of my STORY HEAVY RPG-RTS Hybrid.
The World Map is empty. Very empty. its almost aggresively saying "theres gonna be addons and DLC's so you spend more money".
The Artifacts are... complicated. sometimes you don't get a single Hint and its pure luck wether you even see how and where to pick them up because of the camera not working great, when you have to click a corpse under a tree in an alcove that has almost the exact same colour as the background. (Not Overstating, Actual example)
As far as i know, there is only one ending making your choices seem meaningless.
The amount of maps for skirmishes are lackluster. its like 6 oder so in total.
It doesn't look significantly better then SF2, which came out in 2006.

All that being said: i enjoyed it. Yes, it has plenty of flaws and it was buggy at release and still is to some extent, But i WANT to pay for addons and DLC's. Mixing RPG with RTS has never been done better if even at all and despite SF3 being a downgrade, its still the best we have and i can only highly recommend it, espacially if it is on sale or some years down the line when it got some more content.
