If you look at my hours played, you'll see I've spent quite a lot of time on this game. However, at least half of that time was spent alt-tabbed doing something else. During my time playing on an official server, I think I was having fun. Constructed a base with friends, tamed dinos, built cool weapons, and our tribe even became a super-power on the server. This all took so much of our time though. Everything takes so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long in this game to do. Sure, it's fun building a base, fighting off dinos and other tribes. However, once you get to a certain point in the game, the game stops becoming survival and becomes maintenance and politics.

Logging in daily in order to make sure your troughs have enough meat for your ever increasing dino pens. Farming for materials on a quetz so that you can bring back supplies so that you can idle in the game while things process. The worst part of all is server politics and everything that comes with it. Alliances, enemies, lieing, pandering, and maintaining reputations take all the fun out of surviving this dino world. The worst part of the politics is when we ended up hiring a "hit tribe" and supplying them with weapons and explosives in order to take out our enemies without looking involved.

Overall it was an interesting experience, but I wouldn't recommend getting this game unless you plan on doing private servers or SotF.
