I remember playing this game as a child on the Wii and only now have heard of this. This demo did not disappoint.

Trying to be as much without bias while writing this as this is kind of a game from my childhood since it's release in late 2016 on the PS4... Let It Die is a surprisingly content rich game as something that is free-to-play.

The game runs as smooth as butter if you have any kind of CPU and GPU paired up from the last decade pretty much as it was made for the PS4, but as a downside of being initially made for a console, the keyboard and mouse controls suck. It's still somewhat playable yet might take a while to get used to; R being the key to open the menu for example.

The gameplay itself is in my opinion one of the greatest experiences you could experience, especially if you like a challenge that barely lends a hand. The game gives a tutorial at the start for the controls and mechanics, but you're left out to figure out most things on your own. The combat is from what I've noticed be more unforgiving than practically any game as even the dodging doesn't have any i-frames (invincibility frames); you can get hit even if you try to dodge and get stunned as you get hit and inevitably die.

Which greatly leads to the name of the game Let It Die. The game gives you 2 options when you die; Revive your character or let them die. And unlike what you think you should do, you should let them die. Especially while you're still starting and aren't sure how things work. Just get a new character, learn from your mistakes and kill your old character to get them back.

So pretty much the game is insanely unforgiving at most times, giving you a hard time for any mistake. Yet that makes it feel so incredibly rewarding once you finally progress.

And to talk about the reviews that you might read here on Steam or watch on YouTube they'll pretty surely bring up the microtransactions. Yes, you can buy a premium currency called Death Metal to revive, buy premium decals, buy an express pass to get benefits or to expand your storage.

Looking at the YouTube videos reviewing Let It Die they all bring it up, call the game pay-to-win and call it a day which I find truly so sad as someone who has spent at most around 10€ on the game just to express my support. The game isn't made so that you'll get through all the floors in a month and be done. It's a grindfest and you're supposed to grind, not buy yourself death metals for revives and force yourself to get through a floor your character/you aren't ready for yet. Though the game does hand out free revives on events like "1/2 free revive per day".

The more I think I'm getting finished with giving the game a somewhat cohesive review the more comes to mind like the PvP aspect where you get to raid each others bases, the base upgrading and setting up your fighters to defend it, the tower which's floors you climb has a layout that changes everyday.

And even after "beating" the game A.K.A getting through the 40th floor, it becomes pretty much a complete rogue-like experience with the floors going up-to the 351st floor.

Yet still the most surprising thing however that I've found after coming back to this game is that it's still being updated to this day when I thought that at most it'd be getting a few patches here and there.

All I can say is to please give it an honest try for a few hours and see if you yourself enjoy the rather unique and challenging gameplay and if you start to get a feel for it, but feel stuck, check up on some of the steam guides as they genuinely can and will help you progress.

TL;DR the game is a challenging grindfest that rarely forgives if you make a mistake especially later on and don't try to force yourself through floors that your character/you clearly aren't ready for.

The game's in total shambles after the "upgrade" to CS2. The "upgrade" from which we gained better graphics and a system better than the dated tickrate one, we also gained an anticheat which does nothing when someone toggles, letting them go unscathed while leaving the game unplayable for the common player.

tl;dr CS2 is the HvH player's dream.
