Great core shooting, with light platforming, exploration, and puzzles make for a really cool core experience. Unlike most players, I don't really care about the grind or the endgame. I find the game fun to play alone and with friends simply because the gunplay is great, there's a lot of varied enemies, great sound and music, fantastic graphics and environmental design, and some cool world building even though I still feel the story is sort of light and ephemeral. Overall I recommend it, especially for free!

Although not perfect, this remastered edition is great fun with few bugs. Some people have said that they have trouble playing online, but I have been playing with my two friends who own the game without any issues whatsoever. The campaigns are very difficult and a little slow especially at the beginning, and also at the end of each level when you simply have to build up your fleet to max so you don't die later.

The music and graphics are amazing. I play on a laptop with Intel HD 4400 Graphics and this is probably the best looking game that I can get decent framerates out of. It really is not very demanding, while it looks astonishing. Frame rate sometimes drops in the teens during massive explosions, but usually holds around 30 for me with vsync engaged. This is a huge deal for me because my laptop limits the games I can buy and enjoy at the moment.
