The game is good. Tip: get off the starter map asap, the performance there is terrible.

Fun and unique little game, albeit short and misses some storytelling opportunities.

Played it since the Arma 2 mode, it is fair to say it has come a long way and is a fun emergent gameplay experience with exhilarating combat. In it's essence it's a hiking simulator, love it or hate it.

Although be warned it is a somewhat flawed experience:
On one hand you have the Official servers, that are the intended way to play, but issue is they are garbage, high pop server are plagued with constant server issue and tons and tons of cheaters that will headshot you from anywhere on the map, mid pop are empty with players too far in-between.
On the other hand most community servers are modded to obscurity, leaving little of the core dayz experience, and the few "almost vanilla" servers are much more stable but usually have huge queues, where 30+ min wait is normal.
Pick your poison.

My major beef with this game is it's performance, with very frequent crashes and very bad optimisation, until something improves, it's a no.

A very fun and polished core gameplay loop, if player in co-op. That is bogged down by a shallow progression system and a lack of general goal or meaning.

A very fun and refreshing mix between classic rts and "tower defence". A big miss is the lack of multiplayer or coop.

Artistic side of things Darktide is on another level, the voice acting story arcs are great, awesome character backstory creator, the visuals and locations are unbelievably detailed and emersive etc. However, beyond that is where it all suddenly falls apart. The gameplay couldn't be more polar opposite. It doesn't even feel like a coherent game at this stage: there are only 5 maps... in fact most of the features outside the missions feel like a filler and is rather shallow or is missing at all. Also, the story is a lie, apart of an awesome introduction, it's completely absent otherwise. This is one of the reasons why there is no real goal to play it. There are no mission stats, no endgame content, as soon as you enter the game you are met with the cash shop that offers a much better stuff off the bat, better than you would ever be able to get with the ingame currency.
It is clearly very much unfinished, and although it will hopefully get really good as vermtide 2 did in a few years, there is a more pressing matter that is rather bothersome. Pedatory practices are sadly plaguing this title, from the cash shop to the false advertising. Hence why I do not recommend it, for the time being.

If I could compare it to one of my kids, Oblivion would be a weird middle child, with lots of quirks and idiosyncrasies that actually make it rather unique and kinda a timeless gem. Oblivion is the perfect encapsulation of transitional era of mid 00s for gaming. This is the instance of time where Bethesda is still a relatively unknown studio, still willing to experiment and risk for the biscuit, allowing freedom of action in the gameplay despite the bugs and unrefined mechanics even if it breaks the game for the sake of fun, unhindered by a massive board of investors that comes with popularity. And yet already treading a dangerous path of experimenting with holding back content to sell later as some of the first DLCs seen in the industry. Hate it or love it, Oblivion is a game or perhaps even a very specific moment of game-making captured in a bottle as a piece of history to be marvelled by over and over again.
