Great game in the "banished" genera, has incredible potential but at time of release for early access it's not quite a complete game.

Compared to other games in this genera the main resource drain is war. veterans to this genera will have no issue surviving this games winters or occasional droughts, but bandit raids and in endgame a fight over territory with a lord drain resources quickly.

Hell divers is an incredible team shooter. The immersion and in-game propaganda sets a perfect theaming inspired by starship troopers. The devs and publishers are willing to listen to player base feed back when unpopular decisions were made.

Timberborn is an adequate simulator for what's it like to live in California. Endless droughts threatening your civilization, everyone saying they are about the environment but are really about building expensive statues in their image, and never enough housing even when you have 6 roommates
.
The Positive:
This game scratches my Banished itch, if you enjoy city management games this will be very much up your ally. The art style is very fun and cute, and the music is enjoyable enough during long play hours. The 3D component to building (you can stack buildings on top of each other) makes my min-max heart flutter, as you try and optimize your cities with upgradability in mind. The main gimmick of the game, a water season followed by a drought season, is very fun to plan around and mitigate through developing new technologies and ultimately altering the world around you. Although maps aren’t randomly generated, this game has replay value in a multitude of maps, alongside *currently* two different civilizations.

The Negative:
Timberborn currently lacks any helpful resources built into the game, the “tutorial” is very bare bones, and I couldn’t find any in game help encyclopedia. The developers have clear upgrade paths in mind (in order to build a large water tank, you first need to build a gear workshop, to make gears you need to make a plank workshop, in order to make planks you need a water wheel… ect.) but the upgrade path isn’t clear when you first start out. Upgrades cost science to get, leaving you in the lurch when you mistakenly build a book workshop before getting metal blocks, making you wait for the correct pre-requisite components.

The AI is as dumb as the logs they cut, if a worker dies who has an important job (collecting water) and there’s no one unemployed, the AI doesn’t replace them with a non-important job (like builder or item collector) Instead you’ll be franticly wondering why everyone is dying (RIP those lost in the great water culling of cycle 4) and manually turn off unwanted jobs till the important one’s are filled.

The UI is hard to track resources once you have multiple cities (game calls districts) Cities can move resources between them (through a building) but every trade route needs to be set up manually, so unless you are paying close attention back and forth you could think are good on a resource (like having 5000 food), but really half of your population is currently starving to death.

Over all I would recommend this game, with a strong hope that the developers continue to improve the new player experience and add additional content

This game has flat out the worst start of any game I have ever played. Then, once combat opens up and the story gets going it sucks you into it's world.

Either have the game come with a free controller or learn how to port games. Sick of these half-backed JRPG ports that are unplayable with out a controller. 0/10 -the number of controllers I own. Will refund to buy a damn controller.

I loved this game, but then I sold my computer to buy a farm in real life. I can no longer play the game but at least I am in the game.

Great sand-box multiplayer game. With a overall great community and interesting and engaging building/ crafting mechanics. Easy to learn and very hard to master. If you like medieval times, and working for what you get I recommend this game.

If you are the type of player that wants to run around killing people without putting any time in, I would recommend you look else were. Not to say your play style is not welcomed, but game mechanics make players wait days, and weeks before they can craft their first sword. After that you have to wait a few weeks before you can actually use any good gear. Simply put if you want things to be done instantaneous you will not enjoy this game. It is very slow paced, but personally I like that aspect.

If you enjoy making friends, and working together with other people, or to role-play heavily then I would recommend this game. The game mechanics forces players to work together to create any mid to end game buildings or gear. All skill trades intersect with each other, and all of them need each other's help. Because of this set up you will have to group up or trade if you want to create end game gear.

devs are very good about updates (even if they fall behind) and are constantly listening to feed back and improving the core mechanics. The game is a bit expensive but I believe that it is worth every dollar.

Update after relise. Nothing much changed

Over all a great story, with amazing music and visuals to boot. The story was simply a master peace, and was very griping and emotional. The plot over all was pritty preditable after the first half, however the VN was not going for some crazy twists. Just a simple love story, that they nailed out of the park. Overall reading this at about a medum pace, I finished in about 6 hours, if you want to power-read (and skip over the great music) you can probably finish in about 4 hours.

Some negative aspects in my option are the amount of game-play was a little short, but that could just be me wanting more of this great story. Another huge negative, this VN has you making no choices, despite the fact their are about 4 "choice options" were the main character chooses for you. It is almost as if the writer wanted a branching story and got in a fight with the director who wanted a linar story. This aspect makes the game have zero replayablaty. 6 hours, you cry, your done. Keep this in mind.

As far as the little extras go, the do have a "memories" section that allow you to look at sceens that you have already cleared, as well as listion to music already played. This section is pritty standed in most VN, what I am sad about is they dont have a screen-shot download (as far as I can tell) for the sceens, which is sad considering the art is pritty high quality. Another disaponting aspect is (as far as I can tell) can't buy the sound track through steam (or anywere really.)
TL;DR great game, missing some bells and whistles.
