Damn!
Unfortunately, this game requires mods to get rid of all the little annoyances, but it is still one of the most beautiful works of art I have ever seen. It's unapologetically French and oozes creativity and style.

I would love to see them patch the 30 fps cap in cutscenes, the black bars in cutscenes on ultra-wide monitors, native HDR support, FSR 4 support, and hardware raytracing instead of software RT Lumen.

Great game!
Thankfully launches without Ubisoft Connect, which is very nice.

The Rockstar Games Launcher is such a useless pile of crap. Can't recommend playing without a crack.

Steam already counted 12 hours of "playtime". Most of which I spend tweaking the settings in hopes to be able to play this game at some point. I was hoping for the devs to add upscalers besides DLSS, which I can't use since I am using an AMD GPU. But even without any upscaling at 1440p, the game flickers like crazy so even if I ignore all the FPS and frametimes issues it has, it's just not really any fun.

What did I expect from the game?
I wanted a nicer looking ARK with hopefully less bugs in the base building system.
What I got is a game with lacking settings that runs like ♥♥♥♥ and if I drop all the high end settings I does not really look better than the original ARK. I have a GPU with 16gb of VRAM, a lot of experience with PC settings and tweaking stuff but in it's current state, this is still barely a game, but a broken benchmark with cool tech, temporal flicker, and very bad frame pacing.

Mangohuds framtime graph looks like a sawblade since every second frame takes way longer to compute for some reason. To give you some more detail about what I mean when I say, the game flickers:
The water looks very nice from above but it's a noisy mess up close. The games clouds flicker on any quality preset, the only solution is to disable them completely via a console command, which takes a lot from the games visual quality. All the trees and vegetation in the game are in constant motion. Sadly, all the shadows update at a super low rate, even on ultra settings . This was patched in, likely to improve performance, but it is a terrible tradeoff. This game needs XESS or FSR and more clearly labeled settings. How am I supposed to know what the quality of "advanced graphics effects" changes? None of my friends own the game since it's way too much money for a broken version of a game they already own. Instead of fixing the issues they put out new content, so I don't see the state of this tech demo improving any time soon.

GTA Online not being playable on the SteamDeck anymore because they don't give a flying F. Nice one 2K.

This game offers an incredible amount of brilliant ideas which make it totally brilliant. This game is unforgiving, frightening, very social and downright hilarious when combined with the right people.

The game is fine but the servers are on another level of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Often enough you can count the number of seconds between ticks. Embarrassing for a prestigious company like MiCrOsoFT.
