An endless 2D bullet hell pixel shooter game about a totally-not-Nazi pilot shooting down enemy war planes. Pretty simple, basic and fun. Though if you don't like bullet hells and get quickly frustrated when you die, then this game is NOT for you.

You have 3 platforms/mediums of movement to maneuver in: water, clouds and of course, the air. The former two will damage and crash your plane if you stay too long in them, so you have to stay within the air area in the middle while dodging attacks from incoming enemies like fighter jets and battleships. Don't go too up, don't go too down, dodge as much as possible, and remember to not overheat your plane by firing non-stop and let it cool down/regen to heal yourself. See how long you can survive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PROS
-Progressing through the game unlocks parts to customize your plane with (weapon, body, engine). You can make your plane waterpoof and shoot lasers, drop bombs, or make it defy gravity while carrying a devastating suicidal nuke, and much more.

-Despite the color palette being composed of only 3 primary colors, the artstyle is still very dapper, cool and nostalgic. You can also unlock more different color palettes in the options menu (although most of them are very bright, saturated and hurt the eyes, lol)

-The soundtrack is sick as hell. The music tune also changes depending on which weapons/parts you equip, and it gets louder and more upbeat the longer you survive. Makes the suffering even more fun.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONS:
-Story cutscenes are very short and abrupt, makes it hard to figure out what the lore of the game is, and whether its relevant, or if it even has one anyway.

-Controls are very annoying to edit and get used to. Mouse input is also completely unavailable whatsoever, so you're forced to rely on only 4 arrow keys to traverse the game, and 1 more key to shoot. Not to mention, the user interface is very primitive. Exiting the game by accident with 1 ESC misclick is possible.

-No 16:9 widescreen support. Aspect ratio is permanently locked to a square 4:3, even though unlocking it would theoretically help in the gameplay a bit by allowing the player to see further offscreen enemies.

*-The difficulty gap of the latter missions and achievements is arguably too high. Some of the missions you're tasked with are very difficult to obtain while the rest feels too easy. Its probably just me, but I have been stuck trying to do the last 2 achievements for 10 hours while everything else I did in just 2 hours. (added asterisk to emphasize personal peeve.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, a very good small but challenging indie arcade game. I picked this up on sale, and so far I have no regrets. Once again I repeat, if you're not a patient person who doesn't mind dying a LOT before winning, then you aren't gonna like this game. Period.

It's minecraft but in 2D pixel platform style instead of 3D, and literally 500% more content, and cheaper...

"I'm Andrew Ryan and im here to ask you a question, is a man not entitled to the game he played with the sweat of his own brow?"

"No, says the man in Washington, it belongs to the Noob"
"No, says the man in Vatican, it belongs to the Pro"
"No, says the man in Moscow, it belongs to everyone"

I rejected those answers, instead I chose something different, I chose the impossible, I chose... Bioshock.

A game where the Noob would not fear the Pro, where the weak would not be bound by the hacker! And by playing this game with the sweat of your own brow, Bioshock can become your game as well."

9.5/10
Would you kindly buy this game?

I'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed in this game. I was expecting more from its triple A price tag at the time. Simply put, it lacks content. Its not really that big like Borderlands 2 was, but it's still very good.

Pros:
+Amazing storyline that I enjoyed thoroughly. It explained a lot about the rise of Handsome Jack, and puts you in the shoes of characters who would later become antagonists in the future.
+Low gravity, Butt slams, Oxygen kits, Cryo weapons, Luneshine effects and Lasers are a neat addition to the otherwise identical gameplay of Borderlands 2.
+More Claptraps (might be a downside for some though...lol)
+The side missions are much funnier, more interactive and more interesting than before.
+Great soundtrack, very space themed and distinctively different from the apocalyptic wasteland soundtrack theme in Borderlands 1 & 2.

Cons:
-Shortest and smallest Borderlands game in the whole franchise. The main campaign can be beat in a few hours.
-Not much replay-ability, since there is only one DLC campaign.
-The level design for a large portion of the game is frustrating, with tons of pit falls, holes, edges, cliffs, etc... (Veins of Helios, sigh...)
-Farming Legendaries from some bosses is not possible since they can only be beat once in the storyline. (might have been changed since this review was written though, idk)
-Vehicles are pretty boring, and sometimes outright annoying to use (Moon Zoomy... ugh)

Overall:
8/10
Don't buy it at full price, pick it up while on sale.
