Well then. What can I say. I'll be nice and won't bash this application too hard.
I won't be pointing out the huge amount of negative things I encountered in the 10 minutes I endured. So, that leaves us with the positive stuff...
...

And that concludes this review.

Early Access Review
It's like standing in a 10 thousand hour long line to the top of the mountain.
You can pay money to buy new heroes to move up the line a little bit, but the experience is not that different. You'll still be in the same line, the view is maybe a tiny bit better, but that's just about it.

But, it's addicting. The game, if we can even call it that, hooks the player with a continuous stream of small (meaningless) rewards. And that can keep you from closing this background application.

I'm fully aware of all this. I'm ok with having this running in the background and checking up on it now and then.
But recommend this game? Oh hell no. It's boring, every 'adventure' is the same, progression is meaningless, I don't think this is even a real clicker game. If you care about Steam achievements, you can get around 40 of them pretty easy by running this for 200 hours or so. The rest of them take serious amounts of grinding favor for gold income %.

I'll be uninstalling this soon, I hope.

It's only missing a cheat proof online ladder, but the rest is there.
It's a great RPG to play coop with a friend.

Not so great in online games with random people because of tools like TQVault and TQDefiler.
But if you're ok with people duping items and editing their stats and levels without effort then you're good to go.

The game has a huge world to explore which you'll run through 3 times. (Somehow chapter 2 in games is always a desert)
Of course you can call it quits after completing normal difficulty, but you would miss out on some legendary bosses that only appear in the higher difficulties. And all the legendary loot as well, that only drops in the highest difficulty.

I love the art style, I love the landscape, I love the history behind it all. The loot is awesome, you'll fill up your stashes with all sorts of set items in no time. The game has a dual class system which means great replayability. Even the music is good in this game, especially in the final act.

I really like this game and it's probably in my all time top 10 of games I've played.
And I've played over a thousand for sure.

If only it had a secure online ladder. I think that's the main reason why this game never really blew up.
This original game had a few kinks and hick ups, but now that we have the Anniversary Edition most (if not all) of those are now history.

100% recommend this game.

I btw own the discs as well of the original TQ and IT.
I've played this game well over a 1000 hours.

10 hours, then it got frustrating and annoying.
I did have some fun with it in the beginning. The game has some unique features, the deck building and the way cards are used to generate the next dungeon to go through are interesting ideas.

It just didn't stay fun for long. I haven't finished the game, and I never will.
I got pretty far, but got frustrated by the RNG and, what felt to me, unfair gameplay.
But you could say that's exactly what this game is all about, that it's the roguelike gameplay, and that's fine.
Either way, I regret buying this game. The RPG element in this game is minor, not big enough for my taste.
I've watched other players stream and beat the game, that's good enough for me.
I btw enjoyed watching others play this game more than playing it myself.

I can't recommend this game, but please do understand that it's mainly because it's not my type of game.
Some may indeed enjoy the struggle and frustration. But not me.

Before you buy it, make sure you know exactly what roguelike gameplay really is.
I didn't know 100% before playing this game, now I do.

Had to get used to the camera angle and interface at first, but now that's no longer in the way I'm loving this game more and more.

Good:
- Great main story
- lots of interesting side quests
- good voice acting on every npc you meet
- lots of crafting options. armor, weapons, potions, gems.
- plenty of loot, lots of different weapon types
- great combat system for melee, very interactive with lots of combo moves
- lots of skills and abilities. the skills remind me of Dragon Age with the persuasion, lockpicking, herblore and such. the abilities are much like vanilla wow's 3 tabs skill trees. great replayablity
- huge world to explore

Bad:
- sometimes enemies cheat when you try to dodge and hit you anyway
- character creation/customization options are a bit limited
- ranged combat felt a bit weak/wrong to me. Not so much damage, I didn't focus on ranged to know how well the damage scales, but the auto targeting, the sound, the bow drawing, it just didn't feel right.
- no camera zoom afaik, I wish I was able to zoom out more.

I'm glad I finally picked up this game.
I highly recommend trying it out if you are into action rpg's or rpg's in general really.

Game is build around you spending money on it.
It's not player friendly, it tries to frustrate you every chance it gets and puts a pay wall there to take the frustration away.
An example would be inventory. 15 inventory slots simply isn't enough. I refuse to pay for this.

I found a better way to take the frustration away.

Uninstalled.

Ultimate example of p2w.
No skill needed. The player that pays the most wins.
Stay away.
