I've made it to about the halfway point and all I can really say is this:

*People are mad because they don't want to go out and explore for more upgrades and go out to actually get prayer beads.
*People are mad because enemies deal too much damage, while not having more than starting HP.
*People are mad because they are genuinely just bad at the game.

This game does not need an easy mode, just like darksouls and such.

Tip: Instead of getting super mad because you lost your money from dying, many merchants and a couple stations can turn your currency into items that do not disappear on death. It costs 20 beads as tax, but its better than losing all your money.

The game feels so good to play, even if it was a demo. So much fun just trying to figure out where you will place your hands or feet so you dont plummet and have to start over again.

Early Access Review
First off, the game is in what I like to call "Early Early Access". Game is very rough around the edges, but its still a gem despite that roughness. All it needs is time and dedication from the devs and this game can be absolutely amazing.

The game is of course a PvE only extraction shooter, which I desperately hope stays that way seeing as a lot of PvPvE extraction shooters are very copy paste. I've seen my fair share of extraction shooters, and nothing has made me more happy than not having to die to some random dude in a bush with a sniper rifle.

I've seen a comment saying Tarkov is better and that Forever Winter is a "scam" and a "bad copy", but Forever Winter is nothing like Tarkov. Tarkov is for those who enjoy PvP, while Forever Winter lets you sneak around an ongoing war zone like a rat, scrambling from cover to cover while the AI battle it out a few feet away.

Other than that, game is good, I recommend, though thats ultimately your choice since the game is in a very "work in progress" state.

There's people complaining about difficulty like summons aren't everywhere to assist you, and mimic tear goes into extra chunky mode with the dlc upgrades to spirit summons.

Good DLC, haven't beaten yet because there's a lot to explore and gather, and I've been grabbing all of the perfumers flasks before Messmer.

I recommend if you want a challenge in a really beautiful looking world.

(Edited)

So the review bombing is from children who can't play the game without completely annihilating anything in their path.

For context, the Incidiary Breaker was meta. It had a large spread, 6 mags, was full auto, and fire at the time could penetrate armor, making killing entire HORDES incredibly easy. There was literally no reason to use anything else against Terminids.

They reduce the magazines held by 2 and everyone loses their minds because they can't deadbrain the game anymore.

Bot side is completely unaffected by the nerfs, and all we got was buffs.

It is insane just how many whining children can give sway to everything and have the audacity to call the game "dead".

Anyways, buy the game, it's very fun, just experiment and don't stick with one weapon the entire time because your literally missing out by diversifying a build.

Despite the discourse, this is an absolutely lovely game.

Microtransaction items are worthless seeing as you can get them all easily in game.

Performance issues need to be ironed out for those struggling with them.

They need to add the new game feature.

Game is very good despite these three issues.

As someone who has a pretty good amount of hours in ROR2, all items in it and exclusively play on Monsoon, I recommend this game.

The game has its issues, not being able to switch firing direction, can't climb ropes while firing, but nothing you can't adapt to easily.

I definitely haven't gotten anywhere near done with RORR, but I can recommend it if you enjoyed ROR2.

Note: there's a lot of skill issue level negative reviews

Early Access Review
I have decided to edit my positive review to a negative just due to how far the game has fallen off. It's been abandoned essentially and doesn't look like it will get another update for the rest of its lifespan.

Kill clowns, take combat stimulants, and reload when the AI mechanic dies in the ballast tank.
