Odallus is an indie developed Castlevania clone, it's pretty light metroidvania / action-adventure.

The game's graphics are done in 8-bit style with some 16-styled effects, like light underwater effects and multiple layers of parallax scrolling.

Sound design however is all over the place, the music is ok though sometimes too simple for 8-bit.
As for soundeffects, they range from pre-8-bit to 16-bit all mixed together, it sounds off IMHO.

Controls are decent but can delay or even drop your inputs quite often, i had many times where i tried to swing at an enemy but my attack didn't come out, especially in the air, resulting in needlessly getting hit.

Puzzles are a mixed bag, some cause cheap deaths if you don't have the right items and some are not fully tested before release..;
a good example is where you'll come across this puzzle of 3 floors (2nd stage), if you drop the block in the wrong pit, it gets destroyed and re-spawns at the top floor, however this early in the game you have no way of destroying the stone blocks that are blocking your way back to the top floor, meaning you'll be stuck and have to restart...

Maybe this was wrong of me, but i went into this game with the thought of an Eye of the Beholder / Lands of Lore style of dungeon crawling, i ended up feeling quite disappointed with this, it's surprisingly tedious and way too boring for a dungeon crawler, sorry but i can't recommend this.

Early 80's inspired action flick parody, with totally over the top cheesiness on top of it.
A must see for any 80's and parody fans :D

Very well made shmup with great gameplay and an unique shield mechanic, great step up from their 1st game KAMUI.

This was one of the better looking and unique underrated FPS' in the 90's, however it got overshadowed by Duke Nukem 3D and Quake, since they were all released in the same year, definitly a must-have for 90's FPS lovers.

Early Access Review
Joined around pre-alpha release 3, so far only playtested releases 5, 6, 7 and 11 and i must say it's been improving alot along the development time, especially between releases 6 and 11 imho.

I can see where RG wants to go with this and i hope he makes it true, i do wonder how well the single player aspect will work out tho as this is a very mmo style based game.
Keep it up RG.

Updated 05/01/15: just playtested release 17, lots of improvements were made; graphically, performance, questing, exp table (both combat and crafting), etc...
Not sure how much releases are still planned, but this is dragging on quite a bit tbh :P

Bad console "port", yet extremely worth playing due to the storyline and good action + bossbattles :)

Replayability <3
Probably one of the last good, though overlooked, hardcore RPG gems.
