Early Access Review
Woman offers me a pet. A dog? A cat? A little girl? Wait, what? Ok sure, I get a 6-year-old girl as a companion. She's a warrior. Kills everything in our path, doesn't even need my help. This small child could murder me without blinking. Woman gets drunk one night, insults the little girl. Little girl goes into a rage and attacks woman, who then kills the little girl. I talk to woman, who says, "Remember when I told you to take care of your pets?" and revives the little girl.

The devs have some really great bones here. The gameplay is more on the relaxing side, which I am all about. I'm hopeful that they add a bit more of a hook in the final release to compel me to keep building, whether it be through interesting upgrades, modules, or something else. Regardless, if you like Shapez 2, you'll like this one.

First impressions: Toggle sprint exists and is automatically on. Initial gameplay doesn't feel rough starting out, and tooltips are instructive where they ought to be. Leveling up skills feels good, and all the staples of survival craft function as expected. Putting materials into a chest still allows me to craft with them. The little things matter, especially in a genre where so many devs take 2 steps back in the QoL area. Seeing them in a feature-complete feeling demo prior to release is extremely promising.

Overall, this is to Minecraft like Starbound is to Terraria. It gives a well-made sci-fi feel to the classic Minecraft formula, in a very effective way. The cubic shape of EVERYTHING is whimsical and well-designed, too! Best demo during Next Fest so far; looks like I'll be picking this one up! Great work Atypical!

Pretty good! Scratches the basic RTS itch, and the change in setting to ants is very well done, with all the creepy crawlies and their specific behaviors baked in to do a decent job of simulating how they'd act in real life.

I do wish they'd give more information in-game for each unit, instead of the wishy-washy "dps: moderate" type stuff. If I'm to spend jelly to upgrade my health by 1, I'd like to know what the base health is. Whether it has 30 base health or 300 base health matters in that regard.
