Dark Souls 1 is a very great game. With amazing world and level design, some of the best bosses, soundtracks and interesting lore.

The remaster though...

Frame rate is greatly improved and is night and day difference smooth at least 99% of the time. I have gtx 1080 ti, ryzen 7 1700x, and 16gb ddr4 ram, and play it at 4k max. But only uses 25% of my graphics. But all you need is a gtx 1060 6gb or similar for this in 4k to play smoothly (assuming you have at least a modern i5 and 8gb ram), as seen in benchmarks. So not a demanding game as far as 2018 games go, but after all, it is a remaster of a 2011 game.

Graphics are better overall, but definetly could of been better. There's improved lighting, AA, and ambient occlusion however textures seem the same and there's no option quality for textures.

Online connectivity is much better, along with password matchmaking, so if you like jolly cooperation then this version is a lot better for it compared to how much of a pain it was in the original.

Pvp side...sadly chain backstabs are still a thing, and this far into release it's likely always going to be. This should have been fixed and a hell of a lot of people have complained about it over the years. I pretty much just play pve in Dark Souls 1 other than getting invaded, so don't have a lot to talk about in that part with this game, but from what I see, pvp is almost identical in this to the original.

Especially if you already have the original I'd say put this on your wishlist if you're interested, and wait a bit and see if it goes on sale soon. Otherwise, take the plunge and get the game or ...wait a bit.

The game itself is a 9.0/10 for me it's brilliant.

As a remaster, it's more like a 6.0-6.5/10 it's okay.

Alright game. One of the better COD's besides the microtransaction BS..Zombies is mostly what I play this for, and the zombies is good (at least with dlc's). Multiplayer?...eh..It's okay, not really a fan, if you want to play multiplayer more than zombies, I suggest you try out the PS4 version if you can since it is noticeably more active. Now, in my previous review, I left it as negative..mostly due to it just seeming a buggy pile of ♥♥♥♥. BUT! At least for me, the issue at least for zombies is it is not optimized for native 4K. I do have enough of a rig to run at 4K with a GTX 1080 TI, Ryzen 7 1700X and 16GB ram at 3000mhz..That isn't the issue..It just doesn't appear to be optimised for 4K, so bear that in mind if you want to run in 4K, set it as 4K, but set the render resolution to 80% and run high settings instead of ultra because it kills VRAM and is buggy.

6.5/10 game IMO

Fantastic game one of my all time favourite games ever. Unforgetable top tier level design, bosses overall are very good, lore is great, cool weapons and armor, and high replayability.

So why the thumbs down? You guessed it...

Because there's no point at all to buy this version now with the DS1 Remaster around the corner in less than a month at the time of writing this. If you already have it, cool. If you don't then WAIT until may 25th for the remaster.

possibly my favorite dlc i have ever played. I have beat this dlc at least about 40+ times and i'm still loving it!

Gorgeous enviroments
3 amazing/challenging bosses with amazing soundtracks too
1 PvP boss which i do quite like
Very cool weapons and armor
MUCH more content than Ashes of Ariandel
Fantastic level design
Cool and challenging enemies

Overall, a solid 9/10. Near perfect dlc. Certainly worth buying!

Overall, this is a good DLC. Good level design, Great music, good weapons, 1 great boss, and 1 okay boss. Just a shame that it is a short DLC. For standard new game, i recommened going in at level 60 to 70 for this DLC. Level 90 to 100 for new game plus.

7.5/10

This season pass, will give you 2 DLC's.

Ashes of Ariandel DLC, is short with 2 bosses, but overall, what's there is great. Area's and enemys are pretty good. The final boss in this DLC (which is the main boss), Is fantastic, one of the souls series best. The other (the optional boss) is just...okay i would say. One part of the fight is a joke, and one part the fight is great. The new weapons you get in this DLC are a total of 15, and overall are very good. The Soundtrack OST music in this DLC is great too. Overall I give Ashes of Ariandel a 7/10. Good, but not amazing.

The Ringed City DLC, however is a much bigger and better DLC than Ashes of Ariandel. This time, you get 4 bosses as apposed to just 2 in the first DLC. And this DLC is just incredible, my personal fav out of any of the souls games, and my second fav DLC of all time. My no.1 being the Old Hunters DLC from Bloodborne. The areas enemys in this DLC are awesome. 3 of the bosses in The Ringed City are easily some of the best bosses in gaming. The final boss is the best boss out of the entire souls series in my opinion, a masterpiece of a boss. The first boss and the optional boss are fantastic. 1 of the bosses, which is the 2nd to last boss, is the one that some may find a little ''lackluster'', but i think it's pretty good. The new weapons in this DLC are a total of 21, and overall are amazing! The Soundtrack OST music in this DLC are fantastic. 1 of which having close to the best Soundtrack OST music in the souls series. Overall The Ringed City is a solid 9.5/10 in my opinion. I recommend this season pass.
