Early Access Review
Smite 2 has really began to shine after a rough initial alpha release. The game feels very polished for a moba with very few bugs at this point. Compared to smite 1 where every god release, or relic change breaks the game, Smite 2 has pretty much none that I can think of outside of early alpha tests. The god releases now are really smooth, as well as incredibly inspired. The upgrade to UE5 has allowed the balance team to flourish and give a lot of really cool +1s to fan favorite old gods, as well as engaging kits (such as aladdin the new coolest god in all of smite). The new aspect system released with the open beta patch is incredibly fun, adding more nuance to picking your gods as well as changing up playstyles. Pretty much 2 gods for the price of one! I'm really excited to see how the game continues to develop and i can only imagine more amazing things coming out of this game in the future.

Steep learning curve, but the pay-off is an amazing game.

I haven't played much of the game... at all... But I've got a few problems with the game. Most of these problems correlate with the game being too fast paced. But I also find that there is a certain lack of heroes as well, a lot of them seeming to be very similar mechanically. Too many characters who can jump, heal and damage with a basic attack/ability, and having the ability to silence/stun/root. It really didn't feel like any champions specialize in one particular thing, weaknesses or counters. Which I find boring and evident of lacking ideas. I also dislike how you can only level up your abilities in this much similar to Heroes of the Storm. Not because "OMG YOU'RE RIPPING OFF HOTS" but because it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring in the first place, because it limits the amount of good builds available in this game, taking away even more strategy and complexity. Even though this eliminates the idea of farming altogether (which is a bit boring) I don't think a MOBA can survive without it. I mean you need to farm in Heroes of the Storm as well! Awarding players for losing in the last round is stupid, even though it makes the game slightly unfair to take that away now (for it being a core aspect of the gameAnd honestly I don't think you can fairly count this as a MOBA. Mostly because it lacks in almost every aspect of being, well... a MOBA. Almost zero diversity, no punishing players for losing in duels, no farming, no chance to try and grab the competitive edge, except the (smash) ball in the middle, and there's almost no diversity among the whole cast.

However, there are some little good aspects about this game. Mostly because this game is at least trying to be different. I mean they're almost trying to reinvent the whole genre, and I will respect them for doing that. But it just doesn't feel like they're doing it correctly.

Also not worth $20 bucks while in Early Access. (Or $15 when on winter sale). Not enough content.

I think I have probably played too little to completely judge this game, but my friends who've played it in the past tend to agree that these past points are true.

However, there are still glimmers of hope left for it is only in early access.
