Æterna -- a small orb of water and earth that hung in the vast blackness that was occasionally pocked by small grains of bright light out beyond. The Æternal that once saw it as their home looked upon it with a deep despondence in their eyes. What they must have seen, the bittersweet emotions filling up within them... This was a cold homecoming. They knew that this beautiful planet, that this swirled painting was deceptive. Many of their kin would welcome them home, with twisted visage and guttural screeches.


Kashar's sorrow was vast, vaster than the wasteland he now found himself in. He wandered for days with little conscious thought in his mind, the only things that persisted were fear, pain, and a deep despondence that his memories could not wash away. Looking down at his chest, a small wound had formed some time ago, and a thin, chain-like membrane gently pulled down towards the ground out from it.

"Time. Time is an artificial construct. An arbitrary system based on the idea that events occur in a linear direction at all times. Always forward, never back. Is the concept of time correct? Is time relevant? It matters not."

"Its six black and vacuous eyes stared into mine. I wanted to run as far and as fast as I could, but I could not. It slowly outreached its hand and touched my forehead with its slender and smooth finger. A humming noise radiated from its face. What... What was this thing?"
