What a truly marvelous game and experience it was.

I waited until I finished both before I would leave a review and 63 hours later here we are!

So the pretense, as a huge Ace Attorney fan I was excited for more in the series and at first had skepticism on whether or not this would live up to my expectations of it being great so I tempered them.

I won't make this an extremely long review but will point out what I did enjoy and didn't enjoy. The music, the story, and the setting was such a beautiful package for this duology. I do agree with people's sentiment that the first game by itself unfortunately doesn't hold much water and it's alright at best do to the overall story just ending abruptly and feeling like you never really got a chance to understand everything at play.

The bright side though, is that the second game is a masterpiece of it's own. Essentially the first game more or less sets up the story to be explored and resolved in the second game. It's a long journey that feels exhausting to the point of wanting to just give up and drop the game after the first one but the payoff is worth it.

Luckily this game sells as a package with both the first and second game so you can experience both of them but I must advise to really push through to the second game and it's slow start to get to what I and I believe some other fans would concur as one of the best games in the entire series.

If I would to compare to Original Ace Attorney Trilogy, I would say I prefer the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles over the Trilogy just because I am slightly biased the setting of Britain, detectives etc but also because as a whole package Chronicles really nails it on the head.

With Trilogy I felt it was easy to enjoy certain aspects of some things while disliking others but it was always hard to say as a whole the game felt like a masterpiece of sorts. With Chronicles, it felt like they took everything they learned from Trilogy and made it that much better. The entire package from the music to the setting, characters etc were all just wonderful and made for a great experience that I will always remember.

I do hope one day we get a third installment in this chronicle as it truly deserves one. Overall If you're a fan of Ace Attorney in general, or maybe detective stories/investigations I recommend you give this game a shot even if you're not a big fan of visual novels. I personally don't care for many myself but felt glued to this game, and previous experience of the Original Trilogy is not needed to understand or play this game.
