Great update and a true "Definitive Edition".

Improved graphics maintains an impression of the original look. This is accomplished through a compromise between the almost unbearable graphics of the original and the significant upgrade of HL2. Any further graphics upgrade would have turned the game into just another HL2 mod like "Black Mesa".

Smoother controls and better game play. NPC follow orders now stick while the old NPC's would barely follow you if commanded. I also noticed fixes like being able to mount ladders without falling off half the time and losing half your health.

The new aimbot/aimpoint seems high to me (I needed to aim a bit low). In Real Life this would makes sense due to bullet rise when shooting at medium ranged targets. But, in this Half Life edition, the aiming point is too low and needs to be patched.

Don't expect radical changes like those in "Black Mesa". This is a definitive edition, not a remaster. Expect bug fixes and improvements that should have been made prior to HL2

Anyway, I stopped at "Residue Processing". I suggest playing partial levels at a time. This seems to make the game less tedious and extends the fun. Think of it as a fine wine that needs to be sipped, not gulped. Or, a bottle best consumed over many months. You can't do this with other games, else you forget how to play that particular game. OTH, with HL, you never forget how to play, nor what's around the next corner.

Great fun for 99 cents. Plus you get 4 free trading cards. Then you buy 4 cards to complete the set. Then You craft the cards to get 100 xp, a profile background picture, an emoticon, and a H-L2 badge on your profile. I feel like a Boy Scout again for a buck 31.

Severe lag during the last half of "Interloper". It's so bad, the game crashes after 1 minute. This is a long known issue with BM, and it's a game killer. See, the problem is that 'Grunt Pods' (traveling along a conveyor belt in 'Interloper') get clogged up against a wall causing the game to crash.

To solve this problem were are forced search discussion threads for a solution. Then access the developer console & enter 2 commands. These commands then deletes all conveyor belt Grunt Pods for the rest of the game. It's an easy fix.

Too bad it appears this problem was too big for the devs to fix. Fine. Then why not create a game scenario, like blowing up a machine that ends Grunt Pod production. This would simply be a cover story for automatically deleting grunt pods half way thru the Interloper chapter.

Anyway, customers should not have to search for a way to fix a game & then code a fix. It's a great game. If you get it, get it on sale for 5 bucks and prepare in advance to patch this issue yourself.
