Amazing game. I was mainly here for the story and as a big fan of the world as told by both the Witcher books and games, I can say it really delivered. When it comes to the mechanics, I had fun - and if you're of the sort that could play gwent for ages in Wild Hunt, then this is a game for you. For me there was just one part in the fourth act where it seemed to me like there were too many battles forced on you and so I grew slightly tired of the mechanics but that could also be due to me not changing my roster of cards very often. Either way, the story then picked up hard after that one and I had a blast until the end. Sooo all in all, highly recommend :D

The game was pretty ok, not amazing but still fun.
The best part was definitely the early game. (as is the case in almost any turn-based strategy like Total War Warhammer) Keeping track of your every ship, slowly building up and never having enough money for all upgrades. It simply kept you on the toes every minute and then you also kept encountering new factions as you explored the various systems. At times I felt like it doesn't completely fit the main Empirium story to have to focus so hard on these 3rd party factions rather than Abaddon, who is supposed to be the main threat/villain.

Fleet Sizes.
At first, you keep on growing and the battles are getting larger, more epic. But then once you start getting those REALLY nice ships, you suddenly hit a ship cap for each battle and you can't bring in more than a designated limit. I understand that probably due to engine/optimisation/map limits they had to put a hard cap on, but it's still sad that you can't recreate large battles with tens of ships present, like is often shown in the cinematics or whatnot. So past some point, the campaign feels like you're playing a million tiny skirmishes all across the galaxy, instead of (for example) having a few decisive battles here and there against a faction, which would then cripple said faction for a number of turns, allowing you to exploit their weakness (for example like in Total War Warhammer, although late game every factions has tons of armies there too...).

Invasions.
Every. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Turn. And it's not like they're too dangerous anyways, at first they might offer a little bit of a challange but very soon, they turn into this grinding slog of you always having to either keep many of your fleets garrisoning your systems AND you'll often have to fight those battles manually because the Autoresolve will usually ♥♥♥♥ you over. This adds so many hours into your campaign and like I said, it just gets old very fast. Towards the end of my campaign I was mostly just fighting invasions that pop out of nowhere and that made for a little underwhelming last 20-15 hrs or so. It felt like the AI was doing like twice or thrice as many invasions as they did regular attacks from their own systems. And let me tell you, I'd gladly trade those. The enemy fleets stationed in systems just stood still most of the time, garrisoning or just 'waiting' for me to attack.

Story
This is just a detail and tbf the story tends to take a secondary priority in strategy games like this or the TW:WH series) but still, without spoiling it much, all it comes down to is a few "special" missions, which are kinda just chores you're given by your superiors and only a few of those feel very organical. Regarding the boss fight and the leadup to it, it's kinda ok but meeting the final boss who is supposed to be the one that plunders, destroys worlds or whatever.... I just didn't feel it because you basically don't get to meet or experience him prior to this moment, apart from the short intro/tutorial campaign playing as that female admiral.

All in all, not to sound too negative here, the game is ok. Probably worth the few bucks you can get it for during a sale. It will feel amazing at the start but then will become a little too tedious/grindy once you're like half-way through your campaign.

One of the best games I've ever played. And while someone might say it's short, I think that makes it all the sweeter and making it an unforgettable experience.

I just really love the cartoony artstyle, which depicts the various waring factions in a funny archetypal form. The humour is very subtle, and you have to slightly think to get some of the references - which I think is an amazing choice for a puzzle game.

Another subtle yet beautiful thing is the soundtrack. The 'War Makes Men Mad' track is actually what brought me to this game and well I think that this very track also sums up the story pretty well: It's a constant struggle, as the "heartbeat of the song" is constantly going up and down, and then towards the end it picks up pace and you can feel it is about to end - maybe a bit too abruptly as you kinda want more...

The abrupt end can be both a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it, the fact that there is no true villain like there was during the 1st part of the game makes it feel like the war itself has become the villain, which was probably the intended ending. But on the other hand, it might feel a little random to some. But I'll leave that up to you after you've completed this game, which I certainly hope you do! :)

I absolutely love this game. Also me completing it only after more than 170 hours speaks for itself.

Edit:
This is one of (if not the only) game I've started replaying almost right after having finished it... The replayability value here is just huge and every playthrough so far has been quite different from all others.

Really liked the game. It's perfect for someone who just likes to take in the atmosphere and enjoy a nice story while being challanged with many great dangers. If you are expecting large scale battles and slaying enemies with a single swing, you won't enjoy this game as it has a rather challanging combat with a steep learning curve and is quite similiar to for honor's. The main story is very simple yet very interesting at the same time and I'm really blown away by how elegantly it leads you through the game. I've managed to complete (I think) all the sidequests and DLC's and I wouldn't say that they are any bad either. You may encounter a few grindier or pointless side quests that will just lay in your questbook for a while but a lot of the side quests are quite interesting and deserve to be explored. As for the DLC's, they are really good but definitely not essential. So if you can spend a few bucks for them, go ahead (might want to wait for a sale).
The things I was unhappy with were times when I didn't quite know what to do during a quest and got lost/didn't get the result I was trying to get (either me being dumb or the game not giving you a clear guideance) AND getting rekt in combat from the start (especially handling multiple enemies).

Oh boi what an amazing game, perfect for anyone into fast-paced (quake like) shooters. No ♥♥♥♥♥♥ recoil, no uselles ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that makes the game cringe, just a ton of blood, gun flashes and demons to kill.

9/10

Pretty okay-ish game tho the grind is real. If you don't want to invest around 100+ hours in this game, don't even start, it will be a waste of your time. On the other hand, there is plenty of random ♥♥♥♥ added that can make really help you not loose sanity while grinding for a new ship, I mean all the coop missions, random events like the space battles, chaos in the flodding city etc. Also if you don't have mamy friends just like me, it's ok in this game since playing together with a friend doesn't really change anything.
