My sheets are a pattern of black and white hatching, with solid squares of each color. I'd always assumed it was white with black hatching and squares because the pattern seemed like it lined up every time, but I noticed that the lines are skewed so that the diagonals are a constant alternation. I don't know what in my mind is stopping my head from understanding the concept that it could also be black with white hatching, but I can't think of anything else because of it. But looking at it again, couldn't it be the base pattern is alternating black and white diagonal stripes, with solid color squares overlayed on it? This is like actually hurting my head because there's so many ways to think about it but there's no way to tell which is right. I feel like it represents how my life is falling apart before my eyes and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Is it worth changing your life to become happy when it's easier to just end it?
