Easily one of the best platformers I've played in a loooooonnng time! Besides the obvious aspects taken from Wario Land 4, such as that of the time mechanic, level structure, and collecting of items, Pizza Tower also takes aspects of the good 2D Sonic Games in terms of the insane levels of speed you can acquire. There's many other subtle mechanics given a twist such as that of just straight up having a Metroid shinespark.

Gameplay homages aside this game combines all these aspects into a package I never knew I needed. The level design is immaculate as well as the occasional one-off gimmick being thrown into levels is such a great change of pace and never feels like a major roadblock, every mechanic that's introduced is straight to the point with showing you how it works and sending you guns blazing into the section that uses it.
The collection savvy gameplay coupled with the HURRY UP! runbacks often use these too, making the player rely on memorization and quick wits to make it to the end with as many treasures as they can find.

There's way too much to talk about with the gameplay mechanics I could go on for another hour or so with how much I love it. The art direction and music of this game is incredible too, the combination of 90s cartoons coupled with a wide variety of music that samples the likes of SEGA games, metal, rock, and many other genres results in a fast paced experience that always kept a smile on my face.

Overall if you're a fan of platformers (especially those from the SNES-GBA-DS eras) this game is a must have for anyone that likes the genre. I was glued to my seat for the entirety of the first playthrough and I'm still going back to collect everything else I missed that wasn't needed for the true ending! Along with the specific chef tasks/achievements this game has so much to offer, and really leaves you satisfied with how great it feels to master levels. Tour De Pizza did a slam dunk double pirouette into a swan dive (with a large soda) with this being their first major steam release, and I am very excited for anything else this team might end up making in the future.

(Easily bumped up into my top 20 games of all time, hell maybe even the top 10 if I keep playing more)

Quite possibly one of the best roguelite games ever created just from how unique of a concept it is. A game where everything in your environment is alive and will most likely kill you, such as being crushed by an earthquake, drowning under a frozen lake, or being instantly vaporized by acid or lava, its a game where you really feel like one of the npcs of the environment... which makes learning and becoming more powerful all the more satisfying.

Even beyond the amazing physics engine this game has, its a game meant to be explored, beating the game is only the tutorial. Once you break out of the standard path its genuinely one of the most expansive and secret riddled worlds I've ever explored in a game, nothing has yet to top it for me.

If you have any interest in the genre and enjoy a good challenge/secrets this is a game that's 100% worth your time and then some, I haven't even done everything after getting 100% achievement completion because there's just THAT much to do and experiment with. Plus the game is still "technically" receiving updates.

I went back to play this game after beating Spelunky 2 and I'll be 100%: This is a much more enjoyable game in quite a few aspects.
While this game doesn't have as many paths and choices as the sequel it makes up for it in how tight and fluent the gameplay is. Movement feels quite sluggish when you start it, but once you master this game it feels so damn good to jump around and whip everything in your way.
Most of the strategy involved in this game revolves around health and resource management, deciding whether or not that bomb or rope is worth it to rescue a damsel, reach a blood altar, or open up the door to a black market. Everything functionally is so simple but the way mechanics are wrapped together results in some top-notch game design.

The only major negative I'd have for this game is achievement related: No Gold is a fun challenge but some dark levels just make a run attempt almost impossible if you lack resources. And having an achievement locked behind local multiplayer can be a bit of a headache for some people. These are so minor however that it shouldn't matter to most people.

Overall this game is a must have if you love roguelike/lite/whatever the hell you call them. Even if you've played Spelunky 2 and haven't touched this one this game has so much to offer.

(Played this 2 days after setting up a new computer with RTX)

While this is a cool thing to add to a beloved game such as Portal I have yet to see anyone manage to get this running at a consistent 60 fps, with some tweaking I managed to get around 55 but this is with a new machine.

If performance issues and weird clipping bits are improved upon this'd be a really cool experience to engage with but as of now it feels like a slog. If you can get this to run consistently well its awesome, but you shouldn't have to tweak a ton to get it running consistently well.

Also a minor nitpick: In game barely looks anything like what you see in the trailers and I even had everything graphic/shadow wise on max.

After all the updates I can safely say there's a reason why this is one of the highest rate games on Steam of all time.
Terraria is a survival crafting game with a much heavier focus on combat and rpg elements than its piers and that's where it truly shines.

Combat in Terraria is divided into multiple classes but allows the player to use whatever they wish at any time, as well as completely swap classes if they find a weapon they enjoy. Bosses and general enemy positioning also teach the player to think ahead and understand that preparation and strategies can go a long way.

The building aspect of this game is very in depth despite being stuck on a 2D plane, players gain access to tools and equipment that allow them to change the shapes of blocks, as well as paint them to really make their structures and base their own.

The general gameplay loop coupled with so many things to do is also very satisfying, as well as letting the player decide what risk vs reward gameplay they're looking for (from a sandbox mode to ball busting master mode).

If I actually managed to talk about and spoil everything I love about this game, I'd go well over the character limit. This game is always on sale and nearly everyone owns it, if you somehow haven't gotten your hands on it, its a must have to play solo or with a group of friends.

Visually has a great style and good ideas, but this game has the same issue as Enter the Gungeon for me... its quite slow, monotonous, and most runs blend together. Its a game a lot of people can find enjoyment in but I myself don't care for a roguelike in this sort of design format.

I enjoy playing roguelikes for learning systems, gaining knowledge, and more importantly having fun overall. Not oogling a shopkeeper.

Tied with Accent Core as "peak" Guilty Gear for me at least.

In terms of mechanics this is by far my favorite GG to play just from the sheer amount of creativity you can have with combos as well as this game having my favorite art style in the entire series.

Honestly one of the best card based games I've played in quite a bit, from the roguelike aspects to other mechanics later on its a real treat to adapt to what the game throws at you from new perspectives while still maintaining the core mechanics.

Its been quite a few months since the game released but like all the other reviews this is a game best gone into completely blind just like mullin's previous works.

Overall a fantastic game with a wonderful story underneath the hood
