Probably one of the best RPG's I've ever played.
I can honestly say I love this game more than Undertale

This game is great for anyone who has played JRPGs such as Earthbound or Mother 3.
It's the kind of RPG that has the quirky and serious themes that make it a great experience.

A game I'm eternally grateful for in more ways than one, from community servers in the quickplay era leading to long lasting friendships, some of the funniest interactions I've ever seen in game via ragdolls and voice communications and so many other experiences, it really is the most fun you can have online even today.

My only major negative towards this game beyond its neglect and over-saturation of often low-quality/middling workshop additions is the current queue system the game's had for years, often resulting in many headaches. This is enough of a negative to have me keep my review negative despite the cheating/botting issue finally being fixed 7 years later (lol).

Such instances include:
• Autobalance doesn't work unless half a team leaves, and even then its not a guarantee due to the game considering people currently waiting to join as "being in game", often resulting in quick steamrolls due to someone with a shoddy connection not joining for up to 5 minutes.
•In relation to the above factor having zero agency to autoscramble or rebalance a team often results in a stomp that isn't fun for either side, since almost everyone will leave resulting in you having to requeue or sit in an empty server and wait through the pre-round timer again.
• If you're playing with friends in a different region (such as a party of US players playing with someone in Europe or Asia) the party queue system will just... not work, due to weird recent changes that haven't had any effect on the queue system except making it take even longer!

Its still a fantastic game by all means but this system they've had in place for nearly a decade from a lunch rush "competitive" update has done nothing but make you waste more time waiting to play than actually playing the game. This system is just insanely abhorrent and should've been reverted a day after it launched, its benefited no one whatsoever and the competitive mode does nothing except collect dust on your main menu. This is a game that was never made for what they were pushing towards in 2016 with the hero shooter craze and that still holds true even now.

Beat this game back in 2013 when the DLC dropped and needless to say its quite a different game from its sequel. Even thought it lacks much of the content from Rebirth this should be treated entirely as its own type of game. Tear physics and overall movement is much faster as well as having different interactions with items.

The previously added hard/eternal mode is also a fun thing to come back to years later, its quite the good take on what an ultimate hard mode should be (since rebirth's hard mode is a total joke).

Overall if you somehow haven't played this game its a decent experience EVEN if you've played the "superior" version.
