Ok - so, the negative on the review is a tough one. First off, let's get this right out of the gate - this is a clone of warframe, extremely close. The major difference is the gameplay feels "lighter" - it's hard to explain, but warframe feels better on the controls. This isn't bad by any mean, but it's a lot more....twitchy. The graphics are fantastic, and the music and sound is really good too. The personalities of each character are pretty fleshed out, although you need to overlook some of the more gratuitous ass shots that each female character seems to have. It's a bit over the top and severe fanservice but hey, at least the graphics are good. It's a free game so you can hop right in and start, which is also nice. The story is pretty good too, I like that it continues leading you through and you can largely start it off as almost a single player game.

Now for the rub. The severe gear gating starts at the fifth colossus. If you are undergeared or don't have a team carrying you, standby to enter farmville fairly early. That's doable, I guess, and that is what the game ultimately comes down to, the usual looter shooter gameplay loop. A bit early I think, but nothing out of the ordinary.

No, where it pushed me over the edge and annoys me is the actual cost. Now, no one is forcing you to buy anything, indeed. However, the price for things like random cosmetics is way, way over the top. I think they've done a really bad job on that to start with. I think there needs to be a serious look at their pricing, as they are going to price out the casual players from some of the more interesting items, and eventually be stuck with just a rabid fanbase. Where warframe succeeds aside from the great gameplay and continuing story is the price and how reasonable it is across the board, with few notable exceptions. This game blows that out of the water and does something like 100$ worth for an "ultimate" character, which is realistically just a skin.

But hey, you can still play the game and it's still fun. As I progress, maybe I'll change the review back, but right now that's a large stumbling block along with the controls.

OCtober 27, 2024: WE'RE BACK BABY. Looks like they finally realized there is no real need to make everyone feel underpowered and get the arse beat down. Maybe they fired the idiot that caused the problems originally? I don't know. It's FANTASTIC now, get this game!

August 12, 2024: I wanted to play again. At it's core, this is a fantastic game. A lot of people still enjoy it, which is good. However, it is being mismanaged at the core. I can't really take what the devs and community frontmen say at face value anymore - they keep making the same mistakes over and over and over. It's wild. It's a non-competitive game that for some reason they feel the need to just nerf the HELL out of weapons over and over. They have been continually ignoring weapons that are in dire need of buffs, and continually dodge the fact that there is a bit of a spawn problem, still. All in all, I can't recommend this game right now. Sure, it might be fun for a little while, but frustration takes over fairly early. If they stopped taking away the fun by nerfing all the interesting weapons, and stopped balancing based on spreadsheet usage, then it might go somewhere. Unfortunately, I feel the glory days of Super Earth have passed by. After this review, I'm going to uninstall for a while, possibly forever. I have no desire to play until they fix this.

Second review, after the Playstation issue: "We fought the law, and the law lost" - Through the combined effort of it's players, sony has been forced to back down on their ridiculous attempt at a bait and switch. Now, we can continue to play this game without their terrible system harvesting our data. This game is great, the community is just as great, and the developers are self aware enough to work with their community. It's a rare breed in games these days, good in both the game and the developer. ♥♥♥♥ sony forever, though.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's a great game, super fun with your friends. But Sony has their hooks into it, and this tacked on requirement that wasn't necessary or enforced for months now rearing it's head is ridiculous. It's not necessary, and it's just them harvesting data that they will probably lose in some massive hack yet again. ♥♥♥♥ you, Sony.

At the time of writing this, I've got 6 hours in the game. It's a blast, ESPECIALLY if you play with friends. The enemy types are a bit limited, but the devs have mentioned that they are working on a way to add more with the latest update, and they are pretty communicative. So let's run down the good:

Seamless VR
Good movement and tracking
Combat feels fluid - even the magic
Skill trees
GREAT multiplayer
VR parkour is a RIOT

The cons:
Environments are a bit repetitive (although at higher levels they seem to get more complex)
The music is quite repetitive too
Current lack of monster types (which is an acknowledged fact)

All in all, it's a good buy if you get it now, and it has future potential expansion. If you want to wait a bit, that's a safe bet too, but if you love VR and VR games with friends, then this is one of the current better games. Plus, who doesn't like grabbing a skeleton by the neck and yeeting it out a window?

It's not a flight simulator, and if you come into it expecting that, you won't like the game. It's a more simplistic, strategy and combat focused game. You have three main types of helicopters, a scout that can spot enemies and carries limited weapons, a heavy lifter that can sling supplies around or carry a bunch of troops and often has a lot of turreted guns, and an assault variant of some sort that has missiles and other heavy guns. Through this, you have a few things that you need to do to control different areas that are vital to winning.

It's that simple, and it's a lot of fun. You unlock different helicopters through a tech tree sort of system, and then make squadrons that allow you to swap between three separate helicopters in a game.

If you play with a group of friends, it's a lot of fun. The AI can be sneaky and cheesy as hell, spawning vehicles behind you or in the most out of the way places all the time. Oh, and the MANPAD infantry can be a total pain in the butt to spot sometimes. It's a good game, and worth the price in my opinion.

It is an entertaining game, with a large variety of ships. The good is the fun factor and the coop play seems to be a great time waster. The bads are that these games seem to take a lot of time, the ships take a lot of grinding, the rewards are slanted to give you the most useless possible items, and my personal annoyance that the support personnel refuse to assist you at all for issues. I hope that I can change my review, but I doubt that will happen.

Great exploration, an interesting and evolving story, and wonderful graphics make for an interesting game. I am definitely looking forward to what they add to the game.
Here's what I hope they add:
1) some sort of cooperative, exploration multiplayer
2) A dynamic world generation, since right now I believe it is static
3) A few more ways to defend yourself from critters
4) Having vehicles being a bit more damage resistant, since hitting a fish while traveling tends to do a decent amount of hull damage

I definitely recommend it, as they have been working on it for quite a while, and they continue to add new features and fix bugs. It's quite a stand out game, that's for sure!

So, I waffled for a long time on this. It had a lot of good reviews, and the PS4 videos made it look fantastic. I knew there were a few issues, but the concept is utterly fantastic. Now, granted, I am only 5 hours in, but it's been a pretty solid 5 with an eagerness to play more. So let me tell you what I'm enjoying about this and what concerns me so far:

1. The huge size of the worlds is amazing.
2. The AMOUNT of worlds is amazing.
3. The relative ease of travel is amazing, and the resources to do that aren't so rare that you spend forever trying to harvest them to move on. It's just enough of a carrot that you can keep progressing.
4. The amount of ships and upgrades seems massive.
5. The naming of systems, planets, creatures and flora is just awesome, and the fact it persists is amazing.
6. The game has not crashed for me yet, and I'm on a Y510p with GT 755ms SLI's - technically under specs, but it runs just fine on low settings.

Now my concerns/problems:
1. Expansion possibility, although with the size I have to wonder if that is even an issue.
2. Boring planets in a row.
3. The inventory drives me batty.

Realistically, I think it was worth the price, and I think I will be playing it for quite a while.
