For the price, it's fine. I don't mind grindy. The mechanics are straightforward enough that even someone as dumb as me can get it. Easy to spend 20 minutes on before starting a more in-depth game.
Graphics are good. Lore exists.
It's fine.

Every single death I have
on every single run
is because I'm eventually put in a No Win scenario.
It's fun, for a bit. But that bit is not fun.
...that's not strategy.
Not a horrible game.. just flawed.

Early Access Review
No real strategy involved. If you can do something about the enemies, you do, but eventually you'll be overrun and there will be nothing you can do. Neither is a choice, and none of your offerings will be either.
Looks cool. Nice aesthetic. Nostaglic callbacks. I like how the refresh "choices" option is just deceiving the citizens. Ultimately, can't recommend if you're looking for strategic tower defense.
This is just a shoot things until you can't simulator.

Every death I've had has been because the game tells me I have to be somewhere to block
and then damages me both for being there
or not being there.

Silly. Oversimple. Short. Things I usually fault a game for, but like a B-Roll summer action flick, it knows what it is, what you're here for, and it doesn't pretend to be what it's not..
You wanted goofy plinko, right? Here you go.

I usually ragequit after a few bs deaths in a row, but that's just a genre expectation, and it's quality is high enough that I keep coming back. It's like a better Raiden X, with a little too much bullethell cluster for strategy sometimes, but still manages to look cool, have adrenal oontz music, and be fun the entire time.
Lots to unlock, combinations to try. If you find it at a reasonable price and you want something that hits those buttons, it's good for 20 minutes at a time max play.

Might refund. Not my bag. Painfully slow going. Clip rock once. Somehow goes even slower, just from that. Wander in dark for a literal hour. Find port. Morning coming. Birds steal all my stuff anyway.
Nah. Too much punishment not enough reward for me.
I don't know why someone said.. what if relaxing chill vibe enjoyable fishing games
were not that way.

After 5 minutes of exposition about the year 21Female, you get to look around. But this is a game based on an existing visual property, so you have to expect some backstory. It’s not the best way to do your world building, but it’s better than explaining nothing, right?
Voiceover by Animal Crossing. Physics by Coleco. Sims 1 bare environment and graphic level.
Minute one, I jump and get stuck on top of Greer. Even jumping makes the screen roll. Discover even the stationary dead eyed NPC mission points have collision and can be pushed around the map. Why? This is an easy SDK fix. These are signs of a lack of polish before release.
Achievement for being told choices matter, and then being railroaded, but that’s the premise right? So, not promising, but I keep on.
Just walking around the map (I say map, but there is no Map) is like trying to pour molasses uphill. No running. You clip on everything. The cat you’re required to collect to progress can further impede your movement. When you have to follow an NPC, they
move
very
slowly.
Never seen a “map” this small require this much backtracking that wasn’t a cellphone game.
Then my character is forced to sexually assault a guy.
Seriously.
You have to do this to progress … and the woman watching just laughs about it.
Nah.
Frequently I will have to leave an area and come back or go through the same dialogue prompts for progression to trigger, but upon finally entering the crime scene
movement became so stuttery I could no longer traverse the play area
...and so that’s it. If there’s an update, I’ll try it again and see.
Even generously, this should not have been released as is. This is literally not a playable game.
This is a work of art and love
that someone didn't love enough to finish.

Too much random swarm effect that can Punish you just for starting the game or leaving base, which are requirements of play.
You step out. You're poisoned by a ranged enemy that can hit you, but that you can't hit. Then you're knocked down. By an enemy on the other side of the wall. In another room. With no visual. Then you climb to get away, and without moving after you've climbed clip through the edge and fall to your death.
1000 XP lost FU for playing
I don't know who that's fun for, but it isn't me. Hitbox errors are not skill issues.
Your game needs to HAVE and be capable of the level of precision it requires.
PS, to every single game company:
THE HOMESCREEN IS NOT AD SPACE. This is not some mobile scrub game. Tacky. Stop it.
