2023 edit: Extremely cozy on the Steam Deck, looks beautiful and doesn't stress the hardware at all.

A fantastic and unique game about linguistic archaeology and sailing the skies.

If it looks interesting to you, absolutely pick it up!

A beautiful puzzle box. Not very challenging, but I'm always delighted to see what's going to happen next.

If you like escape rooms and the Game of Thrones intro sequence, then this is the game for you (plus the other 3)!

Sometimes the next step is unclear, but the (optional, thanks!) hint system will give you the nudge you need.

A $12 ticket to a short art exhibition that your brain absolutely cannot handle.

Extremely unique. I'd score it Neutral if possible - it does what it says, but only just.

100% check out the Demo / Prologue! It's ~20 minutes and entirely its own set of puzzles, so no spoilers and no re-doing puzzles.

I've only played for an hour (+20m in the demo. Just got [1]) and I'm already satisfied. It's possible the game goes to heck after the first two... chapters? events? But what I've played so far has been strong!

Lots of little eureka moments, with cleverly designed puzzles that come together beautifully once you've found the right solution, and the whole thing synched to some really fitting music to zone in to.

The interconnected rooms are used cleverly, and add a nice sense of curious exploration as you wonder how all these things will come together in the end.

Edit: Oh! And I think it's colorblind-safe! Despite being a game about colored light, it gives lots of options to adjust the hue, along with making sure each color has a unique icon! I'm not colorblind, but I appreciate accessibility!

Some feedback: I would love to be able to dial down the chromatic aberration effect. As is, I can play comfortably in a window but fullscreen makes me start to feel crosseyed.

The year is 2020, and you are John Crimsonland.

You have been turned into a glowing octahedron and transported to that one part of NieR: Automata.

The color red hates you.

Destroy.

----

It's fun, and extremely satisfying. Hard to stop playing, tends to get you with "one more run".

The enemies are simple, but read extremely well, and their disintegration into chunks is really visceral.

Also, the game makes use of its simple visuals to run really well. I was getting ~300 FPS

The game is simple, though. One mode (endless), with ever more complex polyhedrons trying to forcefully change your topology.

Just some simple, cathartic fun.

Love this game/series!
As an ADD kind of person, I struggle with RTS games - by halfway in, I can't keep track of everything going on, and I end up forgetting about things and making mistakes.

Creeper World lets you pause and issue orders/build, which takes all of that pressure off, and lets me enjoy the experience much more. Being up against a predictable (but relentless) enemy is a nice shift, as well.

Really just a unique experience. Very zen/satisfying to build your grid network and steadily push back the purple ooze bit by bit.

A series unlike any other! If it looks intriguing, for sure pick it up - or check out Creeper World 3 for the same sort of experience in 2D if you haven't!

I struggle with RTS games because there's too many things to manage at once. Creeper World lets me pause and consider, which keeps me from getting too overwhelmed and forgetting about important things.

It doesn't feel like any other RTS, though - it has a focus on logistics and supply lines that others don't, and it's really about building and defending your grid as you push back the Creeper.

The 3D makes the game more fun to watch, I think, but doesn't really change the gameplay much. CW3 had pseudo-3D gameplay already, you just couldn't "see" it as the player. The move to 3D necessarily makes the game a little harder to control, just because of perspective and things hiding behind walls.

Overall, though, it's a fresh dose of more of the same, which in the case of Creeper World is exactly what I wanted!
