For five bucks? Sure.
It's Luck Be A Landlord with a match-3 merging mechanic that makes building your "deck" feel pretty darn good. A nice variety in the different deck archetypes, and the mixing of them leads to some fun combos.
Pretty much done with it after ~7 hours (unlocked all the different decks, won with most of them) and I'm happy with the purchase :)

I love this thing. If you're fascinated by the science of the small, from particle physics to organic chemistry, you owe it to yourself to give it a look.

Definitely not a game, but rather a toy that can offers insight into how complex behaviors can emerge from extremely simple properties. Three particle types with six simulated properties each (+two purely visual ones) manage to give rise to shapes, structures, and even full-on behaviors that we see in nature - and for precisely the same reasons. The laws of attraction and repulsion alone can cause incredibly intricate and structured reactions, and this little program helped me to understand it much more intrinsically than ever before.

It's also beautiful and hypnotic, if you're not interested in the headier aspects. Just hit "G" until you find a random setup you like, and watch it go.

This game's messages, about climate and perseverance and collaboration, are extremely timely. The first new segment post-demo, where the time skip was, hit me pretty hard.

The game's puzzles are clever, though the focus is more on delight and discovery than any sort of real head-scratching. The optional levels offer a nice level of challenge, though.

I finished all of the levels in under 5 hours, but there were lots of achievements and details I could go back for if I wanted to.

A unique experience, worth the time to play!

Waves of Steel reminds me so much of Earth Defense Force - EDF2017, in particular. Low-budget, full of heart, and packed with content, with a story that manages to put you in situations far more epic than they have any business being for how silly the whole thing is. The core gameplay closely matches EDF's - mission-based, swarms of enemies, twists and surprises, and even new tech dropping as pickups.
The ship builder is clunky, but quite nicely freeform once you get the hang of it.

Fundamentally a "Survivors-alike" at its core, the fusion with classic Diablo is done very elegantly, with an Item/Stash system in particular that I'm really enjoying. The pseudo-2d / faux low-res effect is pulled off with finesse, and really does give me some rose-tinted flashbacks.
Worth a look!

I want to love this game so badly, but the anti-player choices just stack up to me not really being able to enjoy playing it.

The important information is too small with icons that don't express meaning well.
The game is very difficult, so accurately understanding what enemies will do what to which allies is very important. But: The damage amount an enemy will do is on the top-right. The number of targets it will hit in the card text. The number of attacks is an orange rosette at the bottom of the card, not to be confused with the yellow starburst that represents turn countdown. Oh, and don't forget to check your units for a little purple teardrop - that means they'll take double+ damage, in a game with slim health margins.
The whole game is based around doing this math and shuffling units, so the presentation really does matter here.

Enemies attack first, but poison ticks one last time on your units after you've killed all the enemies, just to guarantee one of your companions is injured for a fight.
An injured companion, even temporarily, means your attempt at a "build" may be moot for an encounter. Likely the boss encounter.
The bosses I saw all had surprise second phases that were impossible to survive if you took the fight at face value. Bosses already attack both lanes at once, they don't also need to split without warning. Even calling the unit itself "BossName Phase 1" or something would give me a fighting chance.

I'm less sure about: Everything seems tuned so difficult that I feel the only winning strategy *must* be to play razor's-edge aggressive, which ultimately ends up too random for my tastes. Boss fights all punish slow play in ways that feel unavoidable, so it's go for broke every fight.

I'll keep an eye on the game and see if changes are made going forward! I do love the artwork and style, so much, I just... don't care to keep trying right now.

A turn-based card-ish game as snappy as you want it to be. Really captures the "ninja beset by random underlings" vibe in a satisfying way.

A nice little slice of the game, the demo has me eager for the full release!

I have very limited Sonic nostalgia and gameplay experience, and I still really enjoyed this!

The art and music are really nice, and the writing got a sincere laugh out of me more than once. The player character being out of their element translates well into a Sonic-ambivalent player like me being able to enjoy the game.

Shouldn't take more than 2 hours to complete, and I can't imagine re-playing it, but it was neat!

Didn't let me microwave a chili dog, 0/5

A fun mix of light tactics and an elegant deck system, this prologue does a good job of showing you the variety of different encounter types they've cooked up. Definitely has me interested in the full release!

I keep coming back to this one - simple gameplay with lots and lots of subtle variety throughout. Tons of classes and levels and wave types, each with subtle but thoughtfully-designed changes to the way the game plays. Hits a great balance between feeling consistently overpowered while also feeling like you're moments from death at the same time. You also unlock multiple things pretty much every run!For five bucks, definite recommend! Some flaws: Incessant boner jokes, painfully fake ye olde speake, and random-feeling music (not bad, just ill-fitting). The charge dash input is also finnicky, especially on an analog stick, since it requires a direction-neutral input, which is hard to do precisely.
