Early Access Review
With a new dodge roll mechanic, it's only a matter of time before some sweat beats this game at level 1 without taking damage. Git gud or die tryin'

In one short sentence: THIS is how a remake is *perfected*. This is the peak of Resident Evil remakes without any shred of doubt from me. I cannot imagine how any other Resident Evil game in the future could top this masterpiece of a video game. I didn't have a Gamecube for the RE1 remake so I waited until it released on PC; and it was a life changing experience since this franchise is so important to me. RE2 remake was just as life changing as the first, while RE3 was a colossal disappointment and that pole-vaulting leap in the wrong direction made me much more nervous for RE4. Fortunately, the dev team behind 3 seems to have had nothing to do with 4 as they learned that circumsizing a game we already played and charging us full price makes the game weaker in the eyes of the people who pay your bills.

Almost NO content was cut out. Without spoiling anything, instead what was removed was actually shifted around to better fit the pace and narration. The instant death QTE boulders and trucks are gone, those turned me off from RE4 when I had it on PS2. The Krauser knife fight was cool back then but playing it today it's out-dated. Everything that made the original legendary was not only present in this remake, but improved upon in ways I've obsessed over since finishing it the first time.

At the end of the day, if reading reviews just wasn't enough for you, this game is so worth its full asking price Capcom didn't need to pair it with a free dead-on-arrival online competitive Resident Evil game that nobody asked for with the developer's names eternally shamed in its credits as if they were intentionally put on that project as a form of public lynching.

If the game worked, I could recommend it. Would love to get a job with Deep Silver because I too can make things that don't work. I can do nothing real good.

I hate this game. There's so much to hate about this horrible, horrible Souls game.

The BIGGEST problem with this game is its action speed. This game is only faster than turn-based RPGs because it's mechanically faster. It's hard to explain how painfully slow and tedious this ♥♥♥♥ is. It's like at the start of every Pokemon game you come across that Metapod that keeps using Harden like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This entire game is Metapod using Harden.

The lock-on mechanism is borked. In *every* *single* *other* *Souls* *game*, if you're moving around as you SHOULD and you attack, it will do what you expect. In this game, you will swing your weapon behind you and then two weeks later you will be punished like the drooling helmet-wearing troglodyte you are. You can't move left stick or else you will always miss and be punished.

Then, because everything has to happen in three's, the cancer pustule that was From's b-team developer thought that you make Souls games difficult by having every single encounter one gank trap gangbang bukkake after another. Remember getting outplayed by the Black Knights from the first game? You'll be swimming in the reproductive fluids of trash enemies because you'll realize three of them dropped from the heavens above behind you. It makes the game feel like a more trial-and-error slog than a "git gud" adventure. The bosses are insultingly easy by comparison that you just don't feel like you accomplish anything.

♥♥♥♥ this game and ♥♥♥♥ the team who developed it. You KNOW this game was a black diarrhea smear on the Souls-like games since this is the ONLY one like it. Thank God above that From has learned from this mistake, and I shudder to think that there are still B-tards up there cancering up the legacy of this series with their presence.

I'm glad that I completed this ♥♥♥♥ just so I can sleep from hereon without the gnawing question of, "Did it get better towards the end?" Because the answer is no: it never did. The more time you waste on this ♥♥♥♥, the less time you have doing anything else.

TL;DR I recommend this game for a number of reasons, however this is not a game without flaws.

+: Especially with DLSS/FSR, I get about 100 fps on all max settings on 1080p. I wish Techland could implement DLSS/FSR into the first game because I still managed to only get around 60fps. This technology has been a life savor for me and I am truly grateful that you can now download higher frame rates.

+: The gameplay loop, I believe, is significantly improved over the first one. This game is leaning more on RPG elements so it gives armor and classes with different stats.

+: Weapon modification is a lot more fun, exciting, and engaging than it was in the first game. A problem I specifically had on Dying Light 1 was being too conservative in using my King mods. I NEVER used powerful weapons despite both games want you to always use your best gear no matter what.

-: The story is just as ♥♥♥♥ as the first game. Absolutely most of the characters you meet I didn't care about one bit. My favorite character is Hakon and he's the only character I have any sort of affinity for.

-: It's easy as ♥♥♥♥. I played on Hard and it's just not enough. I know Techland is working on harder difficulties and a new game+, but yeah I think it would help the game be more fun if it didn't have so much hand holding.

-: I've had numerous bugs and crashes, but they weren't the worst things and even playing it after the day one patch I've noticed it being more stable.

*: I miss the quartermaster from the first game. I REALLY loved abusing the quartermaster for free stuff and that really ensured a safety net of fun that I was guaranteed. This game has no need for that, but I just loved that too much.

It's worth the money for the game. Full price!

Dusk is a better Redneck Rampage than Redneck Rampage is Redneck Rampage.
Imagine if this was what we got instead.

I have played every Chex Quest game, fake Chex 2 included, and I've enjoyed every moment of them. Now, I'm biased towards the retro graphics of Doom engine games, but this game is FREE! This is the most straightforward way to enjoy Chex Quest because not all of us are well-versed with DOS commands or Doom's source ports.

Thank you for making this, Team Chex Quest!

I remember when Quake II was more of a benchmark than a game back when. Now it's once again another benchmark. I get 150 FPS on my RTX 3060 and the visuals are impressive. It's not quite fitting with Quake II's atmosphere; it's supposed to be gritty and weathered - not shiny and polished.

Nevertheless, it's free. If you have the Steam version of Quake II OR you still have your Quake II discs, simply copy the game files over along with the music (if you have the disc or download it online) because YOU NEED Sonic Mayhem's OST over Quake II. If you don't include the OST you're doing yourself a disservice.

I never played Doom 64 growing up. We had the Playstation so we also had the PS1 version of Doom as well as Final Doom. I truly regret not being able to play this gem of a videogame.

Here we are to present day and I was one of the lucky little boys to get Doom 64 for free thanks to pre-ordering Doom Eternal. This game plays just like the PS1 versions, but without the FPS being clocked at a solid 15 FPS.

Get this game and you will be filled with glee that you can enjoy Doom with all the new ports, including this one! YES!

I remember our fossil of a computer struggling to process Quake's shareware in the 90s. Software rendering's choppy animation is how I fondly remember Quake.

From start to finish, it's a Lovecraftian masterpiece. The only thing I think sucks about Quake is the Spawn. I thought it sucked back then and I think it sucks even more today. I think it would've been objectively better if it *didn't* have a thermonuclear Portuguese man of war, but it's here so... 9/10 f*ck the Spawn.

I also recommend you avoid saying the final boss' name in public.
