NMS should rename itself to U-Turn of the century nether has a game been so slated and hated and "re-imagine" itself into such a beautiful butterfly.

The free updates on a consistent basis in combination with MP and other elements make this game a must play for anyone and not to mention if you own a VR headset this game really can be played by everyone from your grandma to your dog its that enjoyable.

10/10 My Cat hates flying through space in VR but loves watching the birds

So first of all i feel terrible for this review as a friend bought me this game but here goes :) (Sorry RobertsE)

The game has a super interesting concept and game play I just don't have enough friends to be able to use many of the cool subs this game suits itself to a Clan/Guilds game Board night where lots of people want to play something a bit different and have fun for an evening.

I couldn't see myself playing this for any long term basis as ultimately the fun comes from your friends and the absurd situations you find yourself in.

10/10 would flash bang my friend over and over again but would not recommend for small friend groups looking for a new game

For this review I will simply provide you a recommendation:

Have you played Open TTD?
Yes: Keep playing it this is just a lesser pretty version
No: Go play OpenTTD its free and mechanically interesting

If your prefer visuals over game play : This is a great game and you should absolutely but it

If you can coordinate your body rhythmically you will love this game. if you like me have the coordination of a new born giraffe make sure to have a padded cell for your safety.

BUYER BEWARE: Originally the game had a modding scene however from what i can tell this was killed by the dev in favour of selling music via license deals it seems the general community concourses is that they are generaly of a lower quality than the community made versions I assume its either greed or a cease and desist but this seems to have ultimately harmed one of the major bonuses of the game

From the depths is a good game at its heart but the game seems to be long term project for this developer however what the game really needs at the moment is polish the UI feels like im back in early 2000s when internet devs made all text graphical why cause they could.

Due to the long development time of the game I cant recommend it there is defiantly fun to be had but the very thing that makes the long term players of FTD love it means that filthy casuals like myself cant dip in and out as you need to go to FTD university and get your diploma in the expansive mechanics and engineering needed to build your own vessels.

I also find the game to be visually odd and again I think this is a consequence of the long development time where maybe older mechanics and blocks etc haven't been updated but newer stuff has ultimately if you want a game you can sink 1000s of hours into and not need another game in your library potentially FTD is a fit but if its not your forever game you will find yourself overwhelmed by the mechanics and locked out of enjoying the FTD experince.

Update for V1.0

Initially, my critique remarked on the great features and unique gameplay but the overall hollowness of the game. I also commented that a gameplay loop like this would be better placed in a more expansive game as a feature.

However, after the 1.0 Update and addition of the story, there is a greater driving force to play the game; my previous remarks don't hold up as well but, in my opinion, remain a valid critique.

While the story is excellent, I fear replayability may not be there as the game is still quite repetitive at its core; gameplay remains fundamentally the same throughout the story with slightly altered methods for specific components.

You will most likely get a solid playthrough of the story and enjoy it but won't pick it up after that, as one playthrough will give you the idea. All the game has to deliver this isn't a criticism but a simple reality of what is on offer with this title.

I recommend it for a unique gameplay loop that doesn't exist elsewhere and will provide some challenge early on while you learn the basic mechanics.

Ready or Not is a superbly interesting blast from the past bringing back memory of SWAT game play or R6 Vegas 2 and the like .

It would be nice to see some implementation of progression rather than having everything unlocked by default as this would add a lot more repeatability to level and getting both that time and score up however with that said I find myself forced into playing non lethal approaches to get an S grade. I would like to see more level variety where Lethal approaches are also rewarded and non lethal isn't practical otherwise the lovely library of weapons the devs are adding will be ultimately useless as the community if wanting get a S score will be forced into the non lethal options only representing a small % of the available arsenal making me question the devs development time on lethal weapons if to then only punish players for there use.

While the game definitely has some interesting voice lines and other questionable elements i play games to enjoy not get political or worry about the greater social conversation on such controversial matters that society seems to be hell bent on discussing ultimately games aren't real and are an artistic medium to be enjoyed and like all good Art its in the eye of the beholder.

At present the game is fundamentally uninteresting while the game does make a good attempt at the genre it seems to be missing a soul and seems at least to me like a tech demo with great promise.

Its visually pretty especially at night with the missiles, mechanically interesting and yet somehow soulless having played several carrier commander games in the past i find this a faithful but some how lacking attempt to recreate CC for modern times I'm not even sure what to recommend to the devs to fix it hopefully with mod support the game will find its charisma and will be a game me and my friends want to play but at present I find myself having to negotiate with them because fundamentally there is a flaw and we dont want to return as a group.

Fundamentally the game is wait timers with some QTE events in the later game HR management on a boat.

Its lacking any interesting mechanics or gameplay and the weather and waves poses 0 threat ultimately it boils down to grinding to grind to grind for more grind so you can grind in a bigger boat to keep grinding the game lacks any real challenge while not all games have to challenge you to the max when no challenge is present boredom kicks in fast.

If you like fishing and boating I cant talk you out of buying the game but if like me have just been watching too much deadliest catch go watch a different show the itch for this game will fade fast.
