This game is peak.

Forced ray tracing kinda sucks, but I love the gameplay. If you're looking for quick weapon switches and go-fast gameplay, this may not be for you, though there is a slider to up the game speed. Haven't tried that yet.

Coming from eternal as a Nightmare and Ultra Nightmare player, this hasn't delivered the experience I expected so far, but I'm giving it a chance and it's different in a good way. It balances some of the slower mechanics from earlier installments with the quicker paced elements from Eternal, and still keeps the same classic DOOM flare. Ultimately I'll give it a thumbs up for now, we'll see how things progress. I'd like to tweak some settings and update my drivers to make sure everything runs smooth, it's a bit jumpy on my RTX 3070 even on the lowest settings (which don't even remotely look like "low"
settings.

Also, soundtrack wants to be Mick Gordon so bad.

My first playthrough was 72 hours. If this doesn't get GOTY so help me god.

This game is a rollercoaster ride for your emotions, and your wallet. I hate it.

I really hope this game gets fixed but I can't recommend it in its current state. I spent the vast majority of my time in career mode flying missions, trying to make money and level up, but it's very hard to do that when I get hit with constant errors throughout (and usually RIGHT at the end) of most missions claiming the game has run into an unexpected error and I cannot continue the mission. So much time wasted, nothing to show for it, and it has happened FAR too often, to the point where I just don't care to play anymore.

Microsoft I know you really don't care, but if you'd fix your game I'm sure a lot of us would really appreciate it. But then again, you've already got my money, so why would you care.

I will likely change my review in time, but for the moment here's what I can say. Many new mechanics are not introduced properly, and yes, this is harder than the base game. I'm not reviewing negatively because it's hard, but I really just wish these new mechanics were introduced better. It makes for a super steep learning curve, even for me, someone who has played through the base game multiple times.

EDIT AGAIN - The server issues seem to be resolved, and quickly too! Mad respect to the devs on that. I'm off to spread democracy now.



EDIT - Unfortunately having to amend my review to negative solely based on the server issues everyone is experiencing. Until the servers get expanded, OR until they implement an auto-kick function to mitigate the insane amount of people that are just leaving the game on overnight to ensure they can play the next day, I just can't recommend paying money for a game you can't even play. That being said, if you do manage to get in, see the positive energy of my original review below:


Tremendously fun with friends. You can clearly tell the devs actually care about this game, I can't wait until the servers are updated to handle the capacity and see what new content they have planned

If you enjoy walking simulators that result in death 98% of the time, this is the game for you.

I didn't get this game expecting it to be a run and gun, I wanted something slower paced and more tactical, but at the end of the day, the learning curve was just too steep for me, and I didn't enjoy it.

Unlike any shooter out there, but for me it just isn't fun in the way I imagined it would be.

Matchmaking is literally unplayable. Rank is irrelevant, I'm a casual player and I only get matched with tryhards which leaves me with no choice but to do franchise mode which also sucks ass. I wish I had refunded this game while I still had the chance.

Flower man made me shid pant and immediately fall to my death while holding the key to my team's survival
