2 months since release, a dozen of pathces, one "big patch" and it's still broken beyond human comprehension, netcoding crumbling and just not functioning. I still play it only because I paid for it (preordered base version) and I have a full party of friends to play with, otherwise it's just wasted money, even only 25. Even if it was 1.

There's bugs I still see from very early beta versions.

Don't buy it, play something else.

This is the Mafia game that I've been waiting ever since Mafia II.

This game is nothing short of incredible. Starting from the incredibly stable and optimized graphics, which result in never having more than a 10 FPS drops in the same area (changing area will result in a drop or raise of FPS, but then they would stabilize once you remain there), to the perfectly written characters and the truthfulness of the setting it takes place: Sicilia of 1905. It's very much historically accurate in the ways people interact with each other, the sicilian dialect (PLEASE play it with subtitles, I did the same as an Italian myself), the way the place is portrayed, with the little small village(s) and lonely househoulds around the way, the folklore, the customs... It's all so very true, I wouldn't even say it's english people who made this game. You can clearly see there's been a lot of research put into this game, and the story of Enzo is just so enticing in the way that it unfolds and shows you everything I've been writing of and much more. I couldn't recommend this game enough, especially to old time Mafia lovers like me.

And to come back to the technical side of the game, animations are so detailed, facial expressions especially, the direction makes it a real movie, and everything just looks so beautiful, it's jawdropping when you ride your horse and drive your (very old lmao) car around "Valle Dorata".

Right after I finished it, I was so perfectly satisfied with the game, no empty hole whatsoever inside me, that I felt like playing it again right away. The only thing I was sad about was that the game was over, when I was having so much fun playing it, watching Enzo living his life, with all its shortcomings.

Everyone, please play this game. A game so big and full and deeply researched and made with love like this, for 50€, in a market full of bad and problematic games that cost 80€, it's a total steal.

To me, it's a 10/10 and GOTY.

I pre-ordered this game and deeply regret it. I'm a die-hard MH fan, so I was really looking forward to this game, but:
-optimization being almost completely absent
-DRMs making everything generally worse (and hard for modders)
-the whole theory crafting system being butchered with incredibly stupid decisions (jewels divided between attack -weaps- and defense -armors- and second weapons not counting to the general build, but only when equipped, disabling the main weapon)
-and the usual MH problems like hitboxes being double the size they should be

are making the whole experience a real pain in the *** and super bad, even for a diehard fan.

Like, I like the game, I'm gonna play it 'till there's gonna be content, but tbh I'm not even sure anymore if it's because I like MH in general or because I paid 70€ for this.

Game is nice, but story wasn't really taken too much into consideration, if it had the same quality DBZ Kakarot has, it could've been the final DragonBall game.

Unrelated, but rankeds and ppl tryharding is what's ruining this game, it's ridicolous, yall forgot how to have fun, it's boring to see people just do the same s**t over and over again, it's no fun to play unless you're doing it with friends.

Bought this game based off the art design, and discovered an incredible diamond, not just a simple gem. It's beautifully crafted in everything: art, photography, music, writing, characters... I rarely found other games that touched me so deeply in my life. And the story isn't bland, too, and it's full of surprises. I just wish I knew more about the philippines or just knew tagalog to get those little funny things that were too specific for me to understand ahah.

EDIT post 100% finishing the game: it's amazing. What an incredible story about loss, grieving and getting over hardships, what an incredible coming of age story, what an incredible story at all. Please, everyone, play this game, experience its art, it's so worth it.

I'll pleasantly wait for the next title from Polychroma Games.

One advice, spoiler free: don't stop at the end.

Kan Gao and Freebird Games in general never fail to amaze me. This chapter is just another suprise, and in itself is a suprise too, it's just a continue unveloping and discovering of things, about the Saga that we all know and love. I can't say anything specific, 'cause it would just be a spoiler, and I don't wanna ruin the experience for anyone out there, that has to play this game yet, or wants to start the To The Moon saga at all. All I can tell you is, just play the game(s). Kan Gao is amazing writer and Freebird Games is an amazing team, and this, again, is just the umpteenth product that shows their mastery at making incredible experiences throught the videogame media.

And, just to note, if it wasn't the case, I loved this chapter to bits. It's so perfectly crafted, and while still evolving and continuing the story, it also feels like a huge love letter to the saga at all.

What an amazing craft.

I really liked the DLC, but at Day 1 patch, it's got 3 serious problems [see TL;DR at the end for a shortening of this list]:

1) It's optimized like ***. I'm running a 2080, not the best of the best, but not even the worst possible GPU, and I've never seen 60 stable FPS, and in some boss fights, the frame rate drops so much it's like watching an album of photographs. And I've lowered the graphics to medium. Which is bs. I don't even play with high resolutions, so it's really dumb that it doesn't stabilisize at 1080p. Not even asking for 60 fps, just something stable that doesn't drop to 25 or 20 even.

2) It's INCREDIBLY unbalanced. I don't really care the director said he wants veterans to experience the game like anew, if the game is too hard for me to have fun, it's a problem. Challenge should NEVER be the main focus in a videogame, because at that point I'll just go play a shooter online and that's it. And this isn't even a real challenge, it's just artificial difficulty elevated to the maximum, because a good challenge is a boss with specific patterns that makes it a close fight that you can deal with different builds (given the type of game), but this is just enemies with incredible pumped up stats and you being like you're level 1 because of the new fragments mechanic. If you don't spend a lot of time exploring the game at the very beginning, you're gonna have a serious hard time 'till you get to the middle of the DLC.

3) The ending feels inconcludent. It's like the rest of the story never even mattered, including DLC's one. I felt like unrewarded for all the time played.

TL;DR game is incredibly underperforming and incredibly unbalanced, you shouldn't supposed to perfect almost 2/3 of the game just to make it through and even though I didn't personally have problems with any boss fight it's CLEAR that the game has problems. Most bosses have low cooldown reaction times, too long attack patterns, too wide attack ranges, an incredible amount of HP and an even high damage output.

I still like it, I'm still gonna leave a positive review, but if I wasn't a diehard fan of the studio ever since the early Armored Cores (way before the souls even existed), I would never bother with this game, taking in consideration everything that's being said about it.

Also, I'm pretty sure nothing was tested before releasing it. One who creates games should test them in order to be able to beat them, otherwise you never know what actually are you making.

To my liking, the game and the devs tried the best to respect the comic's mood, and I respect them for trying. It's actually a good game for 20€, but it sure could use some improvements under many aspects.

Overall, I'd recommend the game, but if you're not into these kind of things, definitely not worth at full price.

Nice game about the reality of adult life, about what it means to move on and finally finding your way to be the best possible version of yourself. All adorned with some nice and delicate art. It almost feels like you're gonna break it if you force it too much. Really loved this little unknown gem.

I don't recall the differencies between the original and this, but I gotta say it's a good game overall, tho I think the gameplay lacks something. Everything is incredible but not exploited properly as it should. If you played the first Mafia back then or at any point in your life, it's definitely worth buying, tho I don't think I'd buy it again at full price (and fortunately enough I didn't, got it from a good sale off of the trilogy bundle).
