Would I recommend this game? Faster than my Frame Shift Drive can charge without a Mass Lock Factor affecting it!

I bought it on sale really cheap ($9, thanks sales!), and when I had a chance to play I ended up playing 5 hours straight after launching (2 hours prior lol, I was busy for a little while). In fact, by the end of that first session, I had already bought the Horizons Season Pass DLC and relaunched to enable it because I loved the game and wanted the full experience available (it was also really cheap, only $9 just like the game due to the sale) The art style is absolutely gorgeous, and I haven't even left the Pilot's Federation District yet, but I've seen on the wiki and Reddit that outside the bubble, you can find stunning astronomical views. My only complaint is with combat, and this is only because I'm not great at keeping a bead on my enemy. Fixed weapons are near impossible for me, and while gimbal is better, there is a rather narrow cone they can adjust within. If the devs made then able to angle a little more, at least for class 1-2 where someone is just starting out, and they angle less at higher classes where they are heavier (and moving them would therefore be harder) or gave us a tracking assist module to help us follow enemies I would like it more.

Again, that's just relevant to me because I'm poor at first-person ship combat with little assist (this is MUCH better than another game I tried recently with only fixed weapons and no assist whatsoever, so I can't complain much about this either).

And to the people saying the registration process doesn't work:

Make sure you are CREATING an account with them, and LINKING your steam. You can't just use your steam account to log in. Also, make sure that new account uses the SAME EMAIL as your steam account. I originally had problems where the game wasn't working even though I linked, until I realized "Oh hey, wait, didn't I use my throwaway email to sign up for steam originally so I didn't get inbox clutter?" and then I registered a new account using my steam email, linked, and it started working INSTANTLY.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some college work to finish so I can jump back into the game this Friday...

Astroneer is a great game, even if it is rather buggy at the time I am writing this review. System Era has always been good about fixing major bugs as quick as they can though, so don't let the current bugs turn you away completely. If you don't want to deal with the bugs, wait a month or so and most of them will probably be gone, based on experience back in Early Access. Personally, I'm impressed at the fairly small number of bugs they missed that I have seen, even if some of them are major, since they completely rewrote the Terrain system in 1.0 and of course that was going to cause bugs, especially with so many other changes happening. Yes, they could have waited longer to catch more bugs, yes, they could have given Early Access players a beta branch to help them find these bugs before release. However, I think they did a fairly good job for how they did it, and I trust in System Era's dedication to their community. So don't let the bugs turn you away forever, give it a shot- or wait a bit for some more patches to go out and then give it a shot.
