Democracy: Managed

How it started: Oh, I guess this ARPG will tide me over until Dragons Dogma 2 the game I'm waiting for comes out.

How it's going: GO BUY THIS GAME, IT SLAPS.

Floaty combat, ♥♥♥♥ balancing with visually the same enemies having different amounts of HP and damage in the same area. Enemy density is a joke somehow made even worse in umbral. Crashes more than Cyberpunk at launch on a ps4. Sometimes it's fine for 4 hours. Sometimes it crashes 4 times in 30minutes. Or 2 times in 10 after a popup asked me to update to my newest drivers.

Level design is alright. Nothing crazy, the axiom umbral mechanic feels like an annoying gimmick. Levels look over-designed and cluttered. Also locking you into a weapon combo is annoying. If you want to put an emphasis on ranged weapons why not do it Nioh style where you can still swap between weapon on the fly if you want. Why are the menu ammo slots taking up the space typically used in these games for weapons / shields in the left hand? My little ranger axe is great for single targets but sucks at dealing with the ridiculous numbers of enemies you need to cleave down in some areas. Just some ♥♥♥♥ menu design done worse than other games have done before.

Up to the second beacon and most of the boss fights have been gank fights / add heavy, with normal enemies given a fat health bar and an arena. The kinrangr guardians? The crimson rectors? The reaper variants? The mendacious visages? Infernal enchantresses? The griefbound hags? The ruiners? How about a kinranger and a visage? Maybe a visage and a ruiner just wandering around a tree? Why not. Bulking out half your boss roster with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that is a real Dark Souls 2 move.

Just trying to get my money's worth out of it but I wish I'd just ignored this and spent the money on something else, maybe Remnant 2 and the deluxe upgrade for Lies of P.

Oh and claiming you've tampered with the game after it crashes, locking you out of logging in so you can't spend the stupid eyes from the red lanterns. Great.

It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great. Buy it.

Seen plenty of complaints about bad servers, would say that in my several hundred hours of experience the lag compensation they have in this game is amazing, I've played for hours with people from Europe Australia and America without any trouble, would recommend if you have trouble get an ethernet cable. I have ♥♥♥♥ internet and It's rare I get issues.
