The game's core mechanics have aged insanely poorly. Everything around the cumbersome clunky mechanics is pretty good, but the insane price is not justifiable. Pick up on sale and be ready to want to shoot your horse in the head for being insanely annoying to fluidly play with.

Fully locks my game on a black screen and doesnt let me terminate the program or even use my mouse. ♥♥♥♥ that

Can't even access the dlc I paid for through the season pass lmao

Can't even access the dlc despite reinstalling the game / verifying integrity of game files. The ingame popup for buying the dlc is all I ever see with no option to install it. Also idiotic decision to give salamanders the sniper class of all classes lmao.

This game was one of my favorites back on the 360. Despite the nostalgia, while it is incredibly janky and rough I would still recommend the game to anyone even slightly interested. It's fun enough to play for a few hours here and there.

Also, if you're going to go for achievements it is important to note they are only unlocked on the Endurance mode, not survival. The achievements are not bugged, but many of them require the game to be open for an extended period. The game is prone to crashes so I would recommend downloading the "Vanilla Fixed" mod from the CastleMiner discord as it seems to have fixed most of the crashes. Sadly the XNA engine went defunct over a decade ago now so I wouldn't expect this game to be updated anytime soon, especially since they seem to have swapped to unreal engine for the remaster.

While CMZ seems to have died a long time ago, the devteam's social media accounts have begun being very active again in regards to the CMZ ip over the last year. A CMZ remaster was finally announced and I'm just really looking forward to it coming back after all these years. The official beta signups went live today if I'm not mistaken and everything I'm seeing from the devstreams looks really promising.

Cheating has destroyed this game

Swapping my review to negative for now since one of the previous patches destroyed my ability to play the game period. They need to fix their terrible servers, so tired of getting dc'd mid game 75% of the time despite me tracking my isp's latency, packet loss, and downtime / this game being the only one with connectivity issues. I'm gonna stop wasting my time with this since get nothing when we dc, just insta black screen booted to main menu getting nothing from the mission you were in / no ability to reconnect.
