Gameplay wise the base game still holds up insanely well and is pretty fun to sink some time into, but is at the end of the day just about going in and killing stuff over and over with little gameplay variation (once you've played one match you've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer). I would recommend purchasing it on sale / picking it up on a free weekend as the game goes on sale extremely often so I urge you to wait for one of these frequent sales.

The dlc is overpriced for what you're getting (Especially everything post 2021) as most of the weapons kinda suck and the quality has massively degraded, I mean look at the g36c / masterkey animations. Item servers can go offline for days or weeks at time leaving you unable to access or equip anything in your inventory (as well as all purchased dlc) Tripwire support really does not help anybody when that occurs.

The original animation team that were firearms enthusiasts have since left leaving insanely subpar looking animations across the board for content post 2020. I am seeing the same fumbled low quality animations everywhere in kf3 so I doubt I will be picking that game up as it also looks and feels like a cheap mobile game with no soul. Add to this that perks will be tied to "heroes" / all of the dialogue I've heard makes me want to rip out my eardrums.

Anyway kf2 is decent, buy it on sale if you want and don't expect much from it / it really went down hill after 2020. Not looking forward to kf3 as everything I've seen from it has not jived with me, but I expect much of that to change overtime. Kf3 seems like it's shaping up to be another unfinished "modern" live service game but we'll see.
