Both the base game and DLC were bought for me by a friend to play. He kept going on about how good it was and how I really needed to play it, but with all the other games in my library and ones that were coming out, I had way more on my plate that I could think about. He bought it for me and I caved in to play it. And I am so glad I did...This is my review of the Base Game...

On the surface it's really simple and unassuming. The tutorial isn't really anything unexpected. Device functionality, ship flying breakdown, EVA breakdown, a few other mechanics I won't mention. But when you get to the end of the tutorial you're given a point of interest. Something that could be interesting to explore. That's the basis that makes this game worth playing and it's the only thing that will either keep you playing or will confuse you and make you quit early.

This isn't a game that you can just boot up and expect to know what to do because you're having your hand held. You, as a player, have to be interested to discover and know more about the world. The whole gameplay loop is based on that. Discovery and the curiosity to know more. That is your drive to continue. There are no level ups. There are no upgrades. There is only you and your desire to know more. KNOWLEDGE. Knowledge is your power up. Knowledge is your upgrade. Information. Information is the most important thing you will gain in this game. It is in fact the only thing you will receive because that one little piece of information or evidence is what's going to keep you going and will power you up to your next discovery.

You're probably realize I'm not giving too many details about what the game is about. I would be doing everyone a HUGE disservice telling anyone anything else about the game. Spoiler anything would ruin your experience. You'll only get to experience this for the first time once and it's such a special, emotional, and meaningful experience. I've begun to believe that playing this game could a truly life changing experience and one that you will remember, likely for the rest of your life if you stick with it and keep that drive in you to know more.

One of my best friends bought me this game and I'm so glad he pushed me to play it and experience it with him.
