"It Steals" is a novel concept of a game I thoroughly found myself enjoying, featuring 5 small but well thought-out game modes, each with their own different monster and ways to approach each mode. Each level comes packed with tension and fear of the unknown, uncertain of when you'll be targetted next.

All modes have the same goal of collecting all the blue orbs scattered throughout each level à la Pacman, but are quite varied in how you deal with the creature inhabiting each mode. Each level is designed around this fact, the first level, for example, a simple series of claustrophobic and maze-like corridors to keep you frantically searching around each corner you pass, with only a flashlight to fend off the creature.
While they're all small and short experiences, every aspect in each mode has been carefully crafted for the optimal horror experience: claustrophobic & fitting level designs and chilling audio design, genuinely tense chase sequences, and game mechanics that punish too much inaction, encouraging players to push through the horror before their inevitable demise.

While keeping intentionally vague on what each mode as to offer, each mode does a wonderful job of taking the concept it employs and cranking up the scare factor on each one, no two playthroughs being alike. The three additional bonus levels you unlock for completing the first three modes are a challenge of their own as well, putting your mastery of the game to the ultimate test.

I've come to find that this developer does a phenomenal job with what they do, namely their superb audio design and ingenuius ways of creating tension. A genuine diamond in the rough of solo indie game developers! Check out their other games if you haven't already on both Steam and Itch.io, Zeekerss is most certainly a developer you should keep an eye on!

As solid as this game is, as I assume the same for the second chapter, I cannot in good faith support the developers of this game.

Edit: A developer that cranks out overpriced merchandise on launch, develops entirely new games as spinoffs of the main game, and general greedy monetization tactics to boot. While I still do gotta love how cute the character designs are, that's pretty much what the developers want to cash in on.
They're drawing in people from the FNaF community to make content for the game to get free publicity, and probably making a killing from selling their overpriced merch. Even going so far as to make a very poorly balanced Dead by Daylight ripoff to monetize the hell out of that game as well. It sickens me that these developers are nickel-and-diming such a young demographic that doesn't know any better, and I don't want to be a part of it.

Everyone is more than free to engage with the game: I've had a good experience with the first chapter and is overall a solid game. Just make sure to at least keep in mind what developers you're supporting when you buy this game.

From the time since I started playing this game, I can certainly say this is one of those games where it's only fun if you limit your playtime. Since the time a few years ago where all I played day in and out was this game and did not have much fun doing it, taking a big step back from this game was the best decision for my mental health as I could make. Booting this game up for an hour or two every week or so is the approach I recommend anyone have to this game, lest they let the game and its community bring you down with them.
