Some of the issues (such as payment and installation hassles) I had with it then are fixed and overall I'm quite pleased with the state of the game right now.

Updated review, since changes to the Steam client have improved online performance significantly:

What's what:

The most recent iteration of classic 2D fighting in the Street Fighter universe. 44 characters to play on or off line, and many mechanical intricacies to master, many not covered by the fairly basic tutorials. Steep learning curve, highly satisfying to master.

What's Good:

  • Large roster of well balanced characters, and fully mastering just one can be a serious commitment. Most players will never run out of new things to tackle and learn.
  • Robust net code for online play, which is always going to have some microseconds of delay compared to offline versus, but for the most part plays fluidly and works great for practice and casual matches.
  • Classic 2D fighting mechanics evolved from SF II that also offers a lot of depth. Characters can use powerful and flashy ultra combos as a powerful comeback tool. Make your attacks safe or extend a combo using Focus Attack cancels. Combos with tight execution require training, but are satisfying to master.
  • Good amount of game modes, from the barebones arcade versus CPU and the feature rich practice mode and character combo trials, to online ranked or casual lobbies and (little used) team battle and 8 player tournaments.

What's Bad:

  • Searching matches based on skill online doesn't work, causing frustration for new players and professionals alike. Its entirely possible for someone just having installed the game to be matched against an EVO competitor.
  • USFIV is showing its age visually. SFIV was never visually advanced, to make sure it ran constant 60 fps on consoles 6 years ago and hasn't seen any visual upgrades since then. Characters and especially stage backgrounds look quite ugly by today's standards.
  • Unreasonably strict combo system. This one's debatable and many will put this as one of the game's strong points. Most combos are links, meaning they have to be input after an attack animation has ended completely, as opposed to chains, where normal punches and kicks can be cancelled into other attacks. The frame window to hit these combos can be extremely narrow, often down to 1 or 2 frames precision (Using 60 frames in one second as measuring), meaning even professional players with 5000 hours and more clocked will still sometimes or often miss combo timings. I'm all for being rewarded for vigilant practice, but combo windows being this rigid is a bit too much, and can be very offputting for newer players to cope with.


Summary:

While USFIV has strong competition from other fighting games these days, it is still a very good fighting game. It lacks in tutorials and teaching how to combo and understand the finer technical points however, so new players are going to have to educate themselves outside of the game through wikis and watching a lot of high level play on YouTube or Twitch. It still enjoys a healthy player base, and despite other games competing for attention in the genre and SF V being in production, I still feel comfortable recommending Ultra Street Fighter IV for players looking to get into a fighting game, or pondering getting the PC version of it.

Somewhat entertaining top down zombie shooter with game breaking bugs. Expect to have to restart the game every so often because mission items mysteriously disappear. Other'n that, not that bad a game for a casual zombie killing romp.

Very addictive story driven tower defence game. Defenders (towers, if you will), are named, geared and levelled up complete with talent trees to fight off the undead. Graphics are poor, story is decent but also very humorous, the music is pretty catchy and also included for own listening with purchase, but most importantly the tower defending is genious and very, very rewarding. Comes with new game++ modes and separate challenge missions promising a stupid amount of hours of game time.

6 years post release, this game is still enjoyable as heck, with a staggering amount of content.

The definitive looter shooter. (still runs like crap with PhysX on, though. I'm not sure why 'but can it run Crysis?' is a thing, but 'but can it run BL2 with PhysX?' is not.)

Bad phone game port charged at 10 times the price. Might look fun from the screenshots but this is not the classic death rally, at all. Races are over in a minute, sometimes less, gamepad controls are atrocious and can't be reconfigured (instead of proper racing controls the car just goes the direction you point your thumb stick, wow...), no control on your weapons, they just autofire when drivers are in front which is incredibly annoying since you can't shoot item crates most of the time. On top of that the game is missing a lot of features and is generally dumbed down from the original. Also, they took out Duke Nukem. Srsly ... Also no sense of speed at all in races and i hate how they did the car damage for AI drivers. at 0 life they get invulnerable for a few secs before they can be taken out, ugh...

I bought this blind upon seeing it show up on Steam, do yourselves a favour and read a bit more reviews ect before deciding if this game's for you. Worst impulse purchase ever.

Well presented and beautiful, both in terms of looks and gameplay. Tons of content through the DLC's as well, not the mention the many different challenge modes all maps can be played in. Top tower defense title I've played, end of.

Hundreds of hours of having one heck of a good time, guaranteed! Despite its many bugs (most of them cleaned up by now) probably the best RPG I have played to date. If buying this also make sure to drop by newvegas.nexusmods.com to beef the game up further with hundreds of mods available. Nevada Skies, Project Nevada and Weapon Mods Expanded for example, highly recommended.

Great game, considering its all written in Flash. The dark story has a lot of appeal to those such as myself who like that kind of thing. Gameplay is pretty good and each game is heavily randomized to ensure no two basement crawls are the same.

Special mention for the OST as well, mostly very well done synth-occult-zelda themes that fit the game perfectly but also merits buying the soundtrack for listening.
