In short: I kept my expectations in check since the Teaser, but now I'm eager to explore the new Colony.

There are a lot of comprehensive reviews already, so rather than pretending to be a critic, here's what I've not seen mentioned yet.

🔽 Excessive foliage can and will obscure goodies on the ground.

🔽 The basic movement is a little too clunky, even the og Gothic had snappier walk/run animations. Note that this does not extend to the combat.

⏺️ Kirgo's AI broke after a few reloads, however that did let me win against him, so is it really a bug? 😅

🔼 I love the quality of the writing on show in this demo, it takes side characters from the og, and fleshes them out really well. Drax and Ratford, for one, no longer serve as just a glorified signpost. The demo slots itself smoothly before G1, and I would genuinely play the full story of Nyras.

🔼 I like the choice of combat style used for the demo - G1 & G2 had an obtuse to control, but otherwise simple combat system, and I'm happy we've done away with the stance-based combat from the Teaser.

🔼 The way old areas are reimagined is good to see, e.g. the abandoned/flooded mine. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling for the rest of G1 areas which felt bare.

Last note, for those that are nitpicking the remake, still upset because it's not exactly like Gothic - the game you're looking for is Gothic, and it already exists.

This mod/game presents a superbly rich living and breathing world that reflects the events taking place throughout the master-crafted story. If you enjoyed the dark fantasy realism of G1 and G2, you probably will fall in love all over again, I know I did. In my eyes, this is pretty much as canon as the NoTR addon.

Will be replaying soon to pick up the other achievements, but until then, "don't worry, everything will be okay".

I have over 200 hours across all my devices, and every single minute has been well spent, the main story sucks you in, the side stories are compelling and entertaining, the grinding pays off, especially if you enjoy being fashionable, once you max your level, fashion is the true end game. I rate it 11/10 Moglins.

Anime (Hent4i) Souls, 'nuff said!

Doesn't even work on Steam, devs have abandoned ship.

Definitely going out on a strong note, DS3 is easily my personal favourite souls game with it's hitbox porn and control response times!
