Early Access Review
Yes it is Early Access. However, if an EA title is ready to charge money, it's ready to be criticized. I will make quick observations in the usual categories to help you decide if this title is something you'd be interested in:

Gameplay
I think we've all built our own cities in Minecraft, and hoped that the AI that accompanied pre-built villages would do more than just wander aimlessly and occupy a house at night. This game does exactly that, by focusing heavily on the AI elements that heavily lacked in other voxel-based games. It's especially great if you're like me, and not a huge fan of the multiplayer elements in survival games due to the amounts of trolling, toxicity, and the general attitude of "kill first, never ask questions". This game allows you build whatever you like, while adding a survival purpose to it ala 7 Days to Die.

The game itself is currently lacking, but still fun. You get the basics so far, with wood, stone, and various metals to build and craft with. Other than that, here are the current available jobs: wheat farmer, flax farmer, forester, baker, smith, and guard. This gives you everything you need to have fun for a while, but after a quick time playing you will become profitable and self-reliant. Then the only point to continue is to build whatever you like, or to just grow your town to as high of a number as possible. There is currently only one weapon as well: the bow.

Sound
The sound is lacking currently in this build. There is no background music, but there are sound effects for every action in the game so far. This is passable for me, as it's Early Access, and I'd rather see more content added than music currently.

Graphics
High definition voxels. Bloom that makes for amazing sunrises and sunsets. Depth-of-field. It's as modern as Voxel-based games can be, in terms of visuals.

Bottom Line
This game comes in a small 100+ MB package, but looks amazing. In it's current state, it runs easily at 60 FPS and doesn't require a high-tier setup to accomplish this. It's nowhere near being feature-complete though. However for the price, it's already a very competent Early Access title. I would recommend it if building a functional Minecraft city sounds appealing, as that is already possible. If you're a bit hestitant due to the lack of features, I would advise adding this to your Wishlist and watching it for a while. The updates seem to be fairly constant for now, and the dev is engaging and diligent, so I'm willing to put my money down.

As one of the last people to own a smart phone, I emulated a smart phone just to play this when it first released. Since then they've added new features like pets, crafting, and new rooms.

I must warn you, if you want to enjoy what little purpose there is to this game, do not spend any money. I found the game's rotation of quests with the occasional rare/legendary rewards, along with sending people into the wasteland for loot to be the best part of the game. This is ruined if you spend money to get good items right off the bat.

Definitely a fun, but casual Fallout experience worth a try. Also some advice for those who are having a hard time: Raiders typically attack left to right, and clear your top floor first (this will change if you add additional elevator shafts). Do NOT move your people to the vault entrance to fight them. Instead, use this knowledge to make the first room they reach their last. Always equip your strongest guns you have available to people in that room. Also, start building medikits fairly quickly, and don't hestitate to rush it (as well as other buildings) quite often. Fires are easy to put out and also give exp.

This game is very time consuming, but thanks to a queue system you are able to perform hours worth of tasks while you're away, essentially making this a very in-depth idle game. There are quite a few skills, and the amount of time required means you will have to devote your time to certain paths and trade with the community to get everything you'll need. The community is also very helpful, which comes in handy because if this game catches your interest, you'll probably have a lot of questions to ask.

I've played for 22 hours as I'm writing this review, and I still feel I've barely scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. If you want to craft and become rich, that's possible without very much fighting. If you'd rather become a builder, and work on building for a guild, that's also possible. Or you can be like me, and run through dungeons stabbing everything you find with your guard companions. But that route tends to require a lot of sleeping, and potions, so be warned.

If you're someone who likes instant gratification, this isn't the game for you. If you don't mind investing some time and effort into a world with some complex yet satisfying systems, along with an active and helpful community, give this game a try.

Summary - A solid mix of RPG and beat-em-up. If you're expecting the feel of the original River City Ransom, you might be initially put off by certain aspects of this game. Once you get used to the controls however, and get a few levels on your first character, you start to see what this game is all about. If you like River City Ransom, Scott Pilgrim vs The World The Game, or other beat-em-ups like Castle Crashers, this game is definitely worth a look. Also Abobo is the school principal.

Pros
  • New characters, new fighting styles to have fun with.
  • More in-depth fighting system, many new additions in the moveset department.
  • The visuals are amazing. It feels like an improved and expanded River City.
  • The music, while not as memorable as the original, still fits the game well.
  • Various ways to play. Want to avoid trolls, or beat up the the guy who keeps stealing your coins? Turn on/off friendly fire. Want to fight your friends with no interference? Try arena mode.
  • Grindy in a good way. Most games with RPG elements require you to grind and build up your character, but not many make it as fun as this.
  • Various multiplayer options: you can play online, hotseat, co-op, or versus.

Cons
  • Bare minimum moves at the beginning. While this helps lend to the sense of progression as you earn combos and stronger moves, it makes starting out very rough.
  • For online multiplayer, only the host's progress is saved. You can bring characters from your own save, but any stats, levels, or moves gained while not hosting will be lost.
  • I've seen reviews where people are experiencing issues with controller functionality. While I've had zero issues with my Xbox 360 wired controller, I had to add this as a warning to those who may use other types of controllers.
  • The chase missions become a bit tedious.

All in all, this game definitely has a few rough edges. If you can look past those, however, I think you will enjoy this game and what it has to offer.

It's like 4v4 X-Com, but everyone plays just one character and plans their moves all at the same time, and you have Atlas Reactor. The roster size is decent and like a MOBA in that random characters are temporarily unlocked on a weekly basis, and you can permanently unlock with in-game currency or cash. You get a free character after 10 matches, and you earn the currency fairly quick at first as you level up.

A few characters are quite expensive though, and unlocking the entire roster would take a long time as a free player. However there is a Practice Mode where you can test out any character, so you can choose a style you like best without having to wait months to test out every unlocked character.

Overall it's a pretty fun game. There's a variety of characters and skills to keep you switching around. It feels pretty balanced as well, and the options are mostly based on playstyle. If you like running head-first into battles, pick a frontline/tank character. If you like to snipe from a distance, there are those too. If stealth is your thing, that is also a viable option. If the idea of a fast-paced online X-Com sounds appealing to you, download this game immediately.

While I do agree with a lot of the negative reviews in that this game gets repetitive and is grindy. But if you're aware of that and are still willing to try the game out, you'll find out it's definitely worth the $2.50 it's going for currently. The grind of this game can be tough, but later in the game you are able to buy things that make training more efficient, and you'll have enough money to take the bus everywhere so you have much more time on your hands.

Not only that, if you lose fights it's not the end of the world. You can take your time to do what you want, when you want for the most part. The fights might not be the most exciting, but there's still some challenge in building a skillset that will deal good damage, but not drain your stamina too much, and possibly leave you with some defensive options as well. Executing moves is a bit more random as you and the AI both pick moves at the same time, then watch as they are played out. However, with enough training, some good punches/kicks, and a bit of luck, any fight can be won.

Also, the DLC is free.

Early Access Review
“I'd rather betray the world than let the world betray me.” - Cao Cao

The game plays like a multiplayer Mount & Blade in the era of Dynasty Warriors / Romance of the Three Kingdoms. You pick from Wei, Wu, and Shu units (Roman units are listed but not available yet) and lead them into battle against other players in 5v5 matches where you vie for control over bases that can offer additional troops, healing, horses, and more. To win, just kill the opposing 5 players, or kill their general at their base. The menu interface reminds me very much of World of Tanks, where you can upgrade your units, buy better equipment for them and yourself, and also pick a co-leader NPC to boost your army stats. Co-leaders will first be weaker, but if you are a fan of the Three Kingdoms you will recognize the latter names (Xiahou Yuan is one for example). Also worth noting is that the troop types play like paper-rock-scissors to an extent. Spear troops will have a benefit over cavalry, where cavalry can rush and attack archers quickly, and archers can rain arrows down upon slower spearmen.

This however, is just the main mode. There are also duels (which I've tried queueing but haven't been able to play yet) and a co-op mode where you and 4 others lay siege to Hu Lao gate. The co-op mode has a few waves which involve first 1v1 duels between your team and AI opponents, then all 5 of you vs. Lu Bu, then the actual siege begins and is fairly similar to a castle siege in Mount & Blade.

So far, I've found this game to be very fun, and quite balanced so even if you do spend some money, you can't just buy some OP weapon and dominate. Best of all, this all comes for free. I highly recommend trying it out.

If you enjoyed Romance of the Three Kingdoms VII or VIII, then you'll like this game. I've played quite a few ROTK games, but I have always enjoyed the ones that let you play as anything from a vagabond to a ruler, or several positions between. ROTK 13 also speeds up the pace of the game a little by putting a real-time battle system into the game, which is a welcome addition. The game is a bit grindy on social standings and stat building, but that's part of the fun in a world where you're competing with or against the likes of Lu Bu for strength, Zhuge Liang for intelligence, or Cao Cao for political power.

This game isn't perfect of course. Maybe it's just my setup, but the graphics seem sub-par. The world map lacks detail, and moving from province to province feels a bit jerky. The battles play just fine however, and look pretty decent. The duels and debates are identical in process, whereas older versions of ROTK have used different mechanics for each. Things like these tell me they could've put more effort into a better game, but it's still pretty good as is.

A well-written RPG that pays hilarious homage to many iconic figures of the 80's. If you're familiar with G.I. Joe, Transformers, Care Bears, Back to the Future, Michael Jackson, Top Gun, or Jean Claude Van Damme, you will find many chuckles to be had throughout the course of the game.

You play as Marty, and the game is played through 5 episodes, each introducing unique locations and characters to the overall plot. Gameplay itself mostly consists of the standard RPG elements: Explore, level up, complete quests, and advance the storyline. Your party will always be a one-person affair, but this is acceptable due to the customization options available to Marty.

You will find stickers, 5 of which can be scratched prior to each battle to give Marty bonuses (or debuffs for enemies). In addition to this, there is a pretty big selection of items that Marty may also equip. Each of these items is an attack that Marty can perform in battle, and each item ranges in damage, speed, accuracy, and uses per battle. Many of these items also have unique QTEs that give the fighting a bit of flavor as well. Add this with a charging system that is required to make your attacks more lethal, and a timing system that puts emphasis on speed as well, and there's actually a little strategy required in some of the fights.

The music is also pretty good. It probably won't make many Top 10 lists, but it is quite fitting for the gameplay. I wish they would've gave the music more of an 80's hair-band vibe, but I was satisfied with the overall score.

It's time to fight crime and chew bubblegum, and I'm all outta gum.

For those like me that have memories of Police Quest, cast those aside. This is no point-and-click adventure. If I could describe this game in a sentence, it would be: the strategic part of X-Com with the battles simulated by numbers. It's more of a time and resource management game, but with a unique premise and good execution. You control 2 shifts of police officers, detectives, and once-per-day units like SWAT throughout each day, responding to situations, helping the community, and whatever else may arise (and plenty does). In addition to this, you deal with officers calling out and giving excuses, maintaining your rosters, dealing with City Hall to secure more forces/funding, a mafia whose grip on the city is unrelenting, saving up 500k in retirement money, and a wide variety of other things. Also, the protagonist is voiced by Duke Nukem.

It's fun, and worth a look if this sounds interesting to you. If you're still on the fence, do what I did and watch someone play the first 5 minutes. It convinced me nearly instantly, and I regret nothing.
