Quick:

5/5. This is a great game. I am glad that I experienced it, and would love to play something else just like it.

More:

I love this game. Playing through The Way was a very challenging experience, for me. The puzzles were sometimes non-intuitive and obscure, which left me irritated on several occasions. There was one puzzle that I completed, and I am still not sure if I did it through random chance, or if I actually understood how to solve it. Most of the time, the puzzles were great. Controlling the main character can be a pain sometimes. Several sections require almost platforming-like skills, yet the player character's movement fights you almost every step of the way. This made me feel like I was playing platforming sections that were forced into a puzzle game. This could just be a personal thing for me, because I'm not very good at platforming games in general.
The artwork of this game is phenomenal. I cannot do it justice here in this review. It would be best for you see it for yourself. The music was just as good. Every time I loaded into a new level, I felt like I was standing on a distant and wondrous planet. All of the pixel art in this game is hitting well above it's weight. So much atmosphere, and emotion is conveyed through the artwork.
The story is also great. The premise is simple, yet effective. I was completely engaged throughout my play-through. Regularly, I would find myself thinking about playing the next level as soon as I awoke in the morning, and contemplating my most recently completed level when I fell asleep. For such a simple game, it was on my mind a lot, and it left a strong impression on me.
I know that no game is perfect. But, neither is any game review or play-through. This, at least for me, is as good as it gets. I am very pleased with my decision to purchase this game. It was well worth it, in my eyes. I hope you give it a chance, and that you enjoy it as much as I did.

This game is broken. Features in the game that should work, do not work, and have prevented me from progressing through the game. I purchased Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, and this game. They're all broken. Stay away.

Completing this game was my first real experience with a hidden object game. Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink was an enjoyable experience. I thought that the puzzles ranged from easy, to very challenging. The artwork was pleasing to look at. The story, though simple, was charming and kept me engaged. The game took about 3 hours in total for me to complete. Normally, I would consider that to be a very short game. However, because I used a lot of hints during my play-through, I think it would have taken me perhaps another hour at least to finish it. Still a short game, yet worth it, in my opinion. Some sections of the game were a bit confusing for me, and left me wondering what to do. But, overall, I felt that this was a good experience. I would consider myself a fan of hidden object games, now, as a result of playing Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink. I look forward to playing more of these games.

I consider Strike Vector EX to be an OK game, and I do recommend it, but only under certain conditions. The current price of the game on it's Steam page is $11.99. For that price, I would say that the game is worth it. However, it's not worth it unconditionally, as I've stated earlier. If you want to play the game offline, and only offline, and you don't care about the story at all... then go for it.

The online lobbies are dead. I do not think that I've played against a single human player since I've started it. There is a skirmish mode, that feels like PVP play, but you can quickly tell that it isn't. The skirmish mode is fun, but not for long.

The story is not that good. Character development is the worst part. I found myself asking "who is this?" more times than once, about characters who are supposed to be the focus of the game. Relationships between main characters seem to spring up from nowhere, and evolve in a ridiculous and forced manner. It feels like this game was translated from another language, and half of the story was ripped out for some reason.

The artwork, however, is very good. The drawings / paintings that are shown during the cut-scenes are awesome. The intro cinematic is amazing, as well. This game does have the ability to draw you in, but if you need a coherent narrative to keep you focused... you may find this lacking.

As far as the main campaign is concerned... it is sufficient, I guess. I felt as though it began to drag on towards the end, and the missions became repetitive and less fun as time went on. The difficulty felt artificial toward the end of the game.
Enemies begin to swarm you constantly from random directions, and stationary targets that have more and more hit points to the point that it becomes frustrating to take them out. It begins to drag toward the end, as well. I was waiting for the game to just be over, because the narrative lost me, and the game-play was much less exciting toward the end-game.

It feels very good to play this game, though. Imagine Call-Of-Duty, but in a 6DOF shooter. That's the best way that I can describe the core of the game-play, and I love that part about the game. It's very fast, and very accurate. The music and sound effects are great as well.

I can tell that a lot of time and love went into the development of this game, and even though it falls short in some areas, the good parts more than make up for it, to me... as long as the price remains at around $10. Overall, I am glad that I purchased this game, and I do see myself replaying it many times in the future. If you'd like to see what I mean... I've uploaded the entire play-through of the campaign on my YouTube channel. Just search Void Sailor (without the underscore, as shown on Steam), to see more.

This review was rewritten and edited on 3-29-2020.

I originally gave this game a very favorable review. After completing both Leon and Claire's 1st and 2nd runs, I am rewriting my review to reflect my new and more thorough evaluation of the game. This is a good game, if you're a fan of Resident Evil. However it has some serious problems. To start, there's some problems with the weapon wheel not working when I equip certain weapons. I don't know if this is a design choice, or if it's a bug. Either way, it's frustrating and silly. I know it's a small problem to complain about, however it occurs enough during my play-through's that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the entire play session every-time it occurs.
For years I have been a huge Resident Evil 2 fan, as well as a fan of the first game. This only feels like those games in terms of it's theme and environment. The game-play is completely different. The biggest problem that I have with this game is the cheesy enemy AI. I hate how the zombies lunge forward. Sometimes they do it over a longer distance than others. Sometimes they turn on a dime and bite you before you can run past them. This is such an annoying feature of this game that it's my single biggest gripe with it, and it's the main reason that I won't be playing much more of it after completing the main portion of the game. This problem clashes with other design choices in the game, such as limited ammo and healing items. It feels like the designers didn't know if they wanted a survival-horror game or an action game. If you want me (the player) to kill every enemy that I meet without running past it, then don't give me limited ammo and healing items. If you would rather I (the player) attempt to maneuver my way past the enemies, then don't give them the ability to move so fast. It's clashes in design like these, that pull me out of the experience every-time.
The zombies in this game take multiple shots to the head. It baffles me. Sometimes you can shoot a zombie with a 9mm round and it's head completely explodes. Other times, it can take upwards of 10 rounds to the head, and still remain active. Why do I even have to aim if it's chance based? What is the point of a precision aiming system, with narrowing cross-hairs if ultimately the damage that I do against my most common enemy is left up to chance? It seems that this was added after the decision to remove the static camera and pre-rendered backgrounds. It made sense in the old Resident Evil games that you had to shoot a common zombie multiple times to kill it, because the aiming wasn't precise. In the event that you had a shotgun, you could just aim upwards and get a head shot most of the time, if they were close enough. This made sense for that game. It makes no sense whatsoever for this game.
I don't want to aim, and have to aim so precisely, only for my shots to be left up to chance in the end, even when I score a direct hit right between the eyes. It feels frustrating and silly to play a game that has been designed this way. It's almost like the designers created the game with the static camera and pre-rendered backgrounds in mind, and then changed it at the last minute, realized that the game would be too easy with one kill head shots in it, and then put a band-aid on the problem in the form of an RNG system for head shots and critical hits.
In the end, the game is good, if you like Resident Evil, but it's more frustrating to play than terrifying or fun. After completing the main game, and experiencing the story, the nostalgia has worn off, and what I'm left with is a game in which the mechanics don't match it's control scheme or theme. If I weren't a Resident Evil fan, I would seriously not like this game. These design choices make me not want to spend money on Resident Evil 3, especially after playing the demo and seeing the same problems in that game. The game is held up by nostalgia, it's legacy, and the story. As a game, and only a game, it's just not for me. If it weren't called Resident Evil, I would have immediately written a bad review for this game, deleted it, and never played it again. However, because it is Resident Evil, and I remember it fondly, I can deal with it.

If you plan on playing online, with real players... then this game may work for you. If you do not... then continue to read on.

I changed my review from a good review, with a recommendation, to an unfavorable review, without a recommendation. The AI is woefully inadequate. I can't think of another modern game that has AI that's this bad. It's horrendous in it's application, and mindless in it's execution. If this game is on sale... for ten bucks or something... including ALL the DLC, then I would say purchase it, if you're bored, or if you want to laugh at the game.

If you intend to have serious battles, or conflicts, that make any sort of sense tactically then you are wasting your time. It is honestly astonishing how bad the AI in this game is. I am beyond frustrated with trying to get this game to work in a way that seems even remotely reasonable. For all of it's flair and potential, it is nothing more than an empty shell that has the bare minimum required to be considered a sandbox experience.

Imagine trying to get one hundred cats to enter a building, and assemble in one room, while one thousand mice are running out of the building. That is the closest analog to how it feels to create and play missions in this game. Something will always go wrong during game-play. Whether it's vehicles driving through obstacles. Units losing their sense of direction. Or even some units just stopping in the middle of battle, and forgetting their tasks. The best thing about this game is the artwork. The DLC's aren't worth it, either. You're better off getting DCS (which is now on Steam, and free if you don't purchase any of the optional modules).

I put over 100 hours into this game, and only want my time and money back. The fact that Bohemia Interactive has the gall to release DLC for this game without fixing some of the most basic functions is a slap in the face to anyone who bought this. I have given this game so many chances, only to be disappointed every time.

If every entity isn't controlled by a human player, the game quickly becomes laughable, frustrating, and useless. This feels like a game that was pulled from the PlayStation One, had it's graphics and only it's graphics updated, and put on PC.

I am uninstalling this game, and I will not be patronizing Bohemia Interactive ever again. It's that bad. Like I said, I've invested over 100 hours into this game, and even then I can't wait to never play it again. This feels like a pre-alpha that was released because the developers had better things to do... like create DLC. I consider this game to be garbage... as in if I had a physical copy I would literally throw it out. It is in so many ways much worse than the first Halo: Combat Evolved, and there is no excuse for such performance, when the price that they're asking for the game is higher than that of Halo, and it's much more recent.

If I could go back in time, and talk to myself before I decided to play this, I would in no uncertain terms tell myself what I have written here. Save your money, but more importantly... save your time.

I do not recommend this game. If you don't like installing a bunch of extra Rockstar stuff, then don't buy this.

***This review was edited 17/March/2020. I got a message from the developer stating that the online DRM has been removed. I was having problems getting the game to launch recently. However, I installed OpenAL and it works fine, now. I am running Windows 10 on my system.

Quick:
3/5. I feel as though the game falls short, slightly, yet is still worth the money.

More:
Hypergate is an arcade style space fighter game. It's your average run-of-the-mill space shooter, with a more serious, and down-to-earth tone. The flying is relatively straight-forward (literally, and figuratively) and arcade-like.
The story of the game is very basic, with not much depth to the plot, and virtually no character development. All of the fun of this game can be found while piloting your space fighter. There are several missions; all of which are so similar they begin to blend together. The game turns into a monotonous shooting gallery after a while, where it feels like you're single-handedly destroying every enemy on the battlefield, until there's only two left, and then your team decides to join in.
This is a very basic game, with earnest, yet lacking storytelling and voice acting.

Quick:

4/5. I am glad that I purchased the game and I eagerly await more content or a sequel.

More:

Thrust & Shoot: Flight School is exactly what I was looking for when I purchased it. I was browsing the Steam marketplace and looking for a flight-game, or space-sim like the old-school PlayStation flight games. This game delivered.
It's a very short game with a few missions. The graphics are basic, yet aesthetically pleasing. The control scheme is fun and interesting. The HUD is basic... in the best way. The forward and reverse vector indicators, and the map are my favorite features in the game. They are fun to use and easy to understand. My hopes for the game are that it gets more missions and a 'free-look' button / feature. The fun of controlling the ship and the game's retro style are perfect.
Less is more with Thrust & Shoot: Flight School. The simplicity of the game's controls and minimalist aesthetic are it's strongest features.

Reminds Me Of:

Descent, Warhawk, House Of The Dying Sun
