Baldur's Gate 3 is my first real RPG in over ten years, and its been amazing the entire time so far!
I'm over thirty hours in and barely 1/3rd of the way through the game, there's so many options for interactions in the world and paths to take. I feel like I know so much but also nothing!

Even as someone who didn't come in with much knowledge of D&D it's been easy to learn, things are very simple if you just look around, listen, and don't forget to examine things closely.

i'll update this review when I finish a whole playthrough no matter how long it takes.
i'm already addicted, it was worth buying without waiting for a sale, its given me even more time to check out all the options <3

UPDATE 2024:
well, with the right medication in real life, i have finally been able to finish this game, and wow, just wow.
In Sound Mind is for sure now on the list of my favorite games i've ever played, despite having the WORST headbob various friends of mine and myself have seen in years.


THE STORY,
the way everything is connected is absolutely perfect, its almost impossible to miss the small details, yet ever detail they give you is relevant and interesting to piece together, the characters feel relatable even when they're the levels "monster" and i have sympathy for every one of them endlessly.


GAMEPLAY,
the passively spawning enemies aren't too hard to defeat once you're used to them, the level specific enemies also have fairly easy to understand mechanics to keep them away/defeat them, with various options for avoidance or facing them head on. the puzzles are well thought out overall, a few feel very simple and a few feel way harder, but they seem to progress in complexity at least some by tape. the pill collectibles can be easily collected after the level is over before you leave, or you can gather them in the thick of it.


THE SOUNDTRACK,
might be the best sound design ive heard in a game in years, the spatial audio is so perfectly executed you can tell where the enemies and dangers are at all times, yet they still feel nerve-wracking from the actual sounds they make.
now the music, the ambiance music is really well produced, it provokes just enough nerve to keep you on edge but isnt taking over the entire experience beyond the story and gameplay, it only adds to it.
the vinyls, genuinely might be one of the coolest ways to give us a second look into misunderstood characters, a new perspective, every song is unique, and matches the associated character's personality & conflicts, i haven't stopped listening to them on my own time outside of the game, in days. 
the music is genuinely what sold me on the game before i even received it.


and lastly most important to me,
ACCESSIBILITY,
you can turn off motion blur, but that's really it. i would recommend maximum FOV as it does alleviate some of the headbob, but as i mentioned, it might be some of the worst headbob i've ever seen in a game and it doesnt have an option to turn it off, it would NOT affect my ability to defeat enemies in any way that i could tell, but it wouldn't fix the games accessibility overall either.
In Sound Mind is rooted in making you feel a little crazy and trying to stay sane, there's frequent occurrences of screen shake for long periods, endless headbob, parallax motion, and straight up blur from the main chemical agent of the story even if you turn it off, the only way to avoid that is to wear the gas mask or not touch it at all. 


OVERALL,
upon finally playing it all the way through, In Sound Mind is an 8/10 for me, and it would be a 10/10 if it was more accessibility inclined, i change my review now to a thumbs up, but it doesn't change the fact that a game all about mental health fails to actually accommodate players with real health issues.

2022/2023:
FIRST OFF,
i really love this game, i've only managed to get through the end of tape 2 and ill elaborate why, but the concept, the story, the visual design and the soundtrack oh my god the soundtrack, its all a masterpiece.
UNFORTUNATELY,
there is no option to turn off head bob, i've had this game over 6 months and i'm only able to play for 20 minutes at a time before being violently ill with my vertigo, i always have to turn off motion blur (which is an included setting) and head bob (not an included setting) at bare minimum to survive a game in real life.
accessibility is important,
BEING SAID,
if you're not chronically ill, please play this game its amazing, and consider also recommending adding more accessibility features with me :)

for being early access and not my usual type of game it's surprisingly fun, the queue times are basically instant in solo and really fast teams, and all i knew when i got the game was that it was sort of hunt showdown + prop hunt, which it still feels sort of like that.
tried it on the free weekend recently and didn't learn much the first few rounds but with a little sneaking and just observing you'll learn the npc patterns and where most things are, it's relatively easy to pick up especially if you already have good aim in pvp games. even when you lose you can learn something new, winning feels pretty satisfying, and almost every round is fun in teams :)

VHS is the game, now, before you see the dbd lovers hate comments here, know i played dbd a long long time and at very high ranks too, okay so, VHS IS THE GAME.
play the game. the constant updates are always working to make the balance better and the game feel more fun, there's endless cosmetics, new monsters and teens and perks always in the works, etc.
i've been following hellbent since a year before the first private beta and trust me if you had been too you would see all the improvement and love going into this game.
the queue times are much better and the more people who come play the better they'll get! once you learn some basics you'll have so much fun i promise <3

this game hurts but also its my favorite
its genuinely so good life changing i can play with my eyes closed its a reflex i be playing in my sleep play muse dash play it now,, dont worry the songs get harder, just get good B)

and oldie but a goodie, doing the same missions can get repetitive but theres tons of other cool gamemodes for variety. barely any bugs unless you mod it, not usually a hacker problem, and super fun with friends.
definitely worth it for the price even if its not a huge game.
7/10 overall :)
