Very odd stuff, but very intriguing.

The demo is pretty short (at least I think so?) I say that because in my short experience checking it out I felt like the game is kind of designed to throw some intuitiveness to the wind. I was unsure how much content was truly in the demo because at first I spawned into a black room with a couch and a coffee table to someone interrogating me if I should really be there this early. After looking around a bit unable to find a keybinding that did anything I restarted the demo. I then plugged in a controller and restarted the game to be spawned into a completely new place. An island with a building and what seemed to be a plot of farmland with some sequentially flashing streetlamps above it and a little thank you message from the dev for reaching the end of the demo. After roaming around the island, failing to dig up anything at the farm, and clipping up the sides of the walls of the building in a desperate attempt to climb it or break into a vault I found inside, I pressed a button and to then see a little brain rolling around in a crimson meat dimension... I'm not sure what to make of any of it to be honest, but I'm here for it. Unless I'm missing something, that was about all the exploration I found I could do as of yet, but my brain is smooth unlike the one I saw rolling around in the mean dimension, so I could be wrong and missing something.

The game does seem very interesting to me just from this little stroll through a portion of the world and looking at the UI. As I said before, it does seem to be designed to toss intuitiveness to the wind a bit, the audio menu being a series of targets with options scrolling across the screen that you have to shoot to change the setting. Very odd, very unintuitive, but highly intriguing and unique. Thankfully the UI for the face tracking menu was much more readable and clear while still possessing a nice unique aesthetic. And it seems that the face tracking is genuinely pretty good! You might need a bit more lighting to have the game capture your blinks accurately if you play in your dark gamer dungeon like me, but once I got some lighting going it was perfectly capturing my eyes and mouth as I looked at myself making faces in the menu. Although I don't think any of the blinking mechanics are currently implemented in the demo, at least not from what I could find.

One thing I personally noticed as a downside while playing was that with the choppy frame rate, limited FOV, and the way some of the textures 'breathe' for lack of a better term, I would get disoriented at times and felt a little bit of eye strain near the end. I don't typically consider myself someone prone to stuff like that, so I just figured I'd mention it in case anyone who might read this is. Granted, this is an early access demo with limited settings and world to explore, so it's entirely possible the dev tweaks some of the settings or gives us access to change a bit more and make it a bit easier on the eyes.

Overall... I'm honestly pretty excited to see more of what this game is all about. It seems kinda out there, and maybe a little abrasive. Probably not one of those games that's going to be for everyone, but I really like what I've seen so far! I never review games and tend to be a creature of habit with the kind of games I know I'll like, but I saw this and something just drew me into trying it, and if I like what I see so far I figured why not leave a little review. If it seems interesting in the slightest to you, I'd keep this game on your radar!

I'm going to be honest, people complain about their computers not being able to run it well but I have a MSI 1060 6GB, a i5-6600, and 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and I run it Ultra with motion blur and depth of view off. I've only played the Multiplayer and Zombies which were both pretty solid, but the D Day map was a tremendous failure on their part, MG-42's will mow you and your entire squad down the entire time. Zombies is interesting in the fact that there are multiple zombie types, and more perks, but I feel the whole experience is sort of watered down by the 'Extra Gun Damage' perk, it sorta makes Pack-a-Punch a little less exciting to get to. Also, sometimes the game does these akward jumpscares where zombies will appear in front of you from seemingly the ether and stop you dead in your tracks, but I feel it's still a solid experience overall for the Multiplayer and Zombie aspects. Some other notes that should be made

Community - Still Toxic

Divisions - An interesting twist that adds some extra stuff to upgrade your Soldier

HQ - Surprisingly a nice little addition, a place to go to accept orders and missions, or just goof around

Gunplay - SMG's seem to be heavily favored along with the STG and MG-42 but there's always fan favorites, pretty solid (as it should be for an FPS) It's aided with the multiple customization options for your guns

Overall verdict, It's pretty good, it definately has it's flaws but if you miss old Call of Duty this might just be the breath of fresh air you need to get you back into it. However I would greatly recommend checking to see if your computer can run it, and if it can't turn of shadows. If you're iffy on the whole experience, I would recommend finding a unbiased review on it and not the typical, "GUHH COD EWWW LOLOLOL AMIRITE GUIS?" Review. And if you do purchase it and don't like it just remember you can refund it before 2 hours of gameplay or having the game for a week.
