My negative review specifically targets 7.1 and the combat changes to dragoon and gunbreaker.

Dragoon was already taking L's this expansion by having spineshatter dive and dragon sight removed. Despite the overhaul removing alot of the jobs interesting temporal complexity, drgs were still provided an interesting kit to work with, filled with double weaves OGCD's and plenty of moves that felt fun to spam like nastrond.

Aaand they removed most of that by reducing your castings of nastrond from 3 to 1.

As if that wasnt bad enough the took gunbreakers superbolide and made it so that your health now drops to 50% instead of 1 hp. An absolutely unnecessary change since there were so many tools that could be used to instantly recover that health (including an ability gnb already has) and stripped role flavor from the job.

Im greatful for the side content because the alliance raid was very well made and fun to do but i really wish the balance team wasnt so at the ready to oversimplify the kits of jobs so hard.

its currently April 2021 and there is still a thriving pvp and co-op community playing the game. This Soul never needed to get gud, it was gud to begin with.

Some things have changed since the introduction of Escalation. other things have definitely not. but overall Planetside 2 offers a very unique experience you wont get from any other game. Is it the best in its delivery? oh gosh no. but the things it gets right will create very fond memories and amazing moments that keep you coming back for more.

Warfarm can be plenty of fun for the people who have the time for it. you tend to clock hours pretty quickly on it if you aren't careful 8D. Every frame and weapon plays a little differently so the experience can be unique and interesting on an otherwise repeatitive cycle of killing tons of dudes, to get new equipment to kill tons of dudes.

Meanwhile the story, albiet short is pretty neato and has a massive impact on the gameplay as you progress through it.

So a Long while ago I wrote up a review for this game. originally, it was a Thumbs Down. that being said, the game has grown on me after a while. maybe it's a little stockholm syndrome, I dunno.

But heres the thing. after playing through bloodborne, playing the life outta dark souls I then coming back to DS II, I feel it has its own charm. Bloodborne was the successor to Dark souls I wanted. and with that I feel quite satiated, the story doesn't feel convoluted and stupid, item descriptions actually felt connected to the world instead of just a bunch of pronouns with question marks. But, neither game has anywhere near as much spell variety or weapon variety as Dark souls II. It feels like this game was designed, with less focus on the story and interesting boss fights, and more on gameplay.

things like Shield Breaking forces players in pvp to be on the offensive instead of turtling into a corner, invasions would occur actively due to the fact that you never really lose the ability to engage in pvp in an area, regardless if a boss is dead or not. small soaps, while mostly selfish, would give you the ability to co-op for short commitments.

to end this bubble of ranting, I just want to say that the game has flaws, big ones (bosses are extremely boring. you will never get a story experience like that of Bloodborne, Demon's Souls or Dark Souls I, world is a badly designed mess, lazy level design, soulvessels leading to shortened playtime, disgusting copy-pasta textures in areas that should have recieved the most work) But, if you do it for the PVP or the Co-Op you'll be in for a treat.
